Do you do this, or just cut strips the length of your fabric and use that as binding? What works for you? Is there really that big a difference which way you go if you are just doing a square quilt with no curve edges?

I usually bind with straight edge binding. Unless you are binding around curves or many corners straight cut works just fine. Bias binding has more stretch to it and should be used for any edges with curves. I have friends that always use bias binding but many of my quilting buddies will just use the straight for "normal" quilts.

I use a folded bias strip for all my binding efforts. I used a straight cut once and didn't like it. I like a little pliability! I think the bias makes doing mitered corners much easier also.

I use straight cut pieced together. Only need bias if your edge has a lot of curves to it.

I always use straight cut unless there are curves in the edges.
I cut my strips 2 and 1/2 inches , fold in half, and sew the raw edges to the front, and then blind stitch it down on the back.

I LOVE using bias binding if the binding is made from a plaid fabric. Other than that the bias binding is kept for curved edges.

I used straight cut binding for straight edge bindings and use bias cut binding for wavy edge bindings. I have only done 1 scalloped edge binding, but the bias edge binding really made a big difference as far as workability.

I use straight cut binding for my regular quilts. The only time I use bias cut is if there are curves.

I cut my binding with the length of the fabric. If I were to cut on the bias, I would starch like crazy before cutting. My opinion.
