Ya know, this is why I have a 301. I have 2 of the newer machines, will embroider and all that jazz, but to sew denim or even velcro, they just laugh at me. I do all of the heavy stuff on my 301 and it sews whatever perfectly!

I have new and old also. This morning I was using an electronic machine and wanted to change the stitch length. I had to push, push, push the button. I thought to myself-if I was using one of my old machines it would just be a simple twist of a knob or push of a lever. It is nice to have all the fancy stitches, but most of the time simple is better for me.

I had a newer machine and the fanciest stitch I used on it was zigzag and that was just to finish off a seam.
I have yet to use all my attachments for my old gals but I do prefer the simplicity they offer :)
p.s. the clothes people wore (back in the days) that were made by the older machines...were total eye candy!!

I keep telling my hubby that if my Viking(which I love dearly) ever quits and is too expensive to repair that I will never buy a new machine. I have a Featherweight and a Singer 301 and I will stick with those. But I do really, really love my Viking!
