Older Singer Sewing Machine Question

The main things to check out are the wiring, make sure the bobbin case is intact and that it sews. Like others have said, it is heavy and can't be carried by the handle. Does it have any of the accessories with it? If you want one for sewing class, I agree a 301 would be a lot better. If interested, I have one for sale.

I too would think this machine would be way to heavy to lug around...a lighter weight portable might be better although you mention weight is no problem but it sure could become one because this is one heavy machine. You could really twist yourself up with just getting it in and out the car.

When I bought my 128, the owner's son put it in my car. When I arrived home and reached for it, I nearly fell into the back seat. That little 3/4 size machine weighs 29 pounds. My 301A weighs more like 16 pounds and a Featherweight is in the 12 pound range. The 301 has a handle on the top of the machine and travels well.
