I receive email from Jordan Fabrics every morning. Donna did a tutorial just this past week using gradient fabrics that might be just what you'd enjoy using for your fabric. I really like her tutorials! And there are several free patterns every week.

Three of my favourite uses, away from the ombre designed quilts and runners are ....
* flange inserts against a solid coloured binding
* binding
* pieced blocks with no plan as to where the ombre shades fall (eg. used for the traditional pieced maple leaf block, so that the leaves end up getting different tones in them ... just like IRL)

Another thread from this board that could use Ombre fabric for this easy pattern. The main fabric floats with two side pieces.

I have only worked with a couple pieces of ombre fabrics and that has been a few years back ago. It sat on the shelf mostly because I was unable to see the entire hue of the fabric when working on a project. This sounds like something I need to investigate again. There are all kinds of patterns that I have been seeing across the internet that come from ombre fabrics. The above mentioned patterns are some of the best I have seen out there.
