You don't. Some people want to "preview" the actual designs before they buy fabric, but you don't need to.

Hold the hinged mirror open so you see 6 images of the triangle area you have the mirror edges sitting on. Slowly slide the mirror across the width of the fabric on the bolt, holding it in the same position with both hands. Then you can see what variety of triangles you might get with this fabric for a OBW.
