Yes, I name my machines. I have an Elgin (I'm not sure what model) named Brutus, and a Singer 99k named Elizabeth. I usually call her Betsy. I have also named (or helped naming) at least 5 of my mother's sewing machines.

I know it is too late but I don't know if you want to call your machine Bruce. Bruce was the nickname the automatronic shark in "Jaws" was called. It kept breaking down and never worked right except once and then it sank. A little movie trivia. For all those of you that watched "Finding Nemo" there was a great white shark in it named Bruce too. I am guessing it was referencing to "Jaws" too or Steven Spielberg since he directed the movie.
