Which one?

If it’s going to a Nursing Home, just make sure it’s as sturdy as you can make it. They wash quilts with their own stuff, and that means hot water and sanitizer (usually bleach). Too often, families would accuse us of stealing a quilt when in fact it fell apart in the wash. That means good quality quilting, and forget about the flowers. People with dementia will often pick off anything on a quilt, even if it means that tearing the fabric. A less fancy quilt is also much less likely to be stolen. If this lady does a lot of picking with her hands, you might want to consider making a “worry quilt.” It’s small, just big enough to fit in the lap, and it has ornamentation on it that busy hands can play with, such as a couple of well secured tassels, a half ball made out of yarn, a larger button or similar (but not something she can swallow). I have seen patients entertained for hours by these worry quilts. Just a thought from a Nurse who has spent a lot of work time in nursing homes.
