Opened up and saw a very handsome young man and a quilt with pictures o f presidents. Young man's face is delightful.

I thought you meant opening new spools of thread. I was going to say I have trouble with it-if there's plastic covering it, it's hard to find the tear point and I don't want to cut into it and cut the thread. And then I can never find the end of the thread once I do get the plastic off.

    carry on.

I almost didn't open a thread this week posted under Road Trip. I thought it was vacation snaps but it was a great quilt.

I guess never judge a book by its cover.

I read on this site somewhere that some folks donate their quilts to charitys etc. I thought this is a great idea -helping people with God given talants He bless us with. Here in Memphis we have a huge St. Judes Foundation, and i have decided to try to collect as much fabrics as i can and make lil quilts for the kids. Since im returning to quilting after 23 years, my stash is like a big fat 0. Im working on getting scraps, fat quarters, good will finds, etc. A girlfriend will join me in fall to also help. So i need all the ideas of how to find cheap and free fabs for my quest. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
