Opinions on border choice please
I'm making a quilt of valor and need to add 4" border to make it large enough. I have 2 lengths of yardage available. Which do you prefer. I'm leaning to the red because it pops. The picture shows 2 of the 21" blocks. I have 9 total, 5 in blue and 4 in red.

Very narrow (1") gold. Then slightly wider (2") dark blue. Then red (3"). Yes, I know borders will add up to 6" instead of 4", but in my opinion the "striped" effect would look very QOV. Love your blocks!

Definitely the red IMHO.
I hear the others and their suggestions about the consistency of the gold.
Maybe not all your blocks will have gold, being that these are the first two?
With only wanting to add 4" ... I think both the gold and red would just not give the pop effect enough. However, I would suggest a flange binding with the same red and the gold for the narrow flange. However, personally, I would do the flange in the navy to help pull that into the forefront too.
