Pinwheels on all sides then narrow borders of both the gold and purple. Any LSU baby would love it!

I like the pinwheels around all 4 sides and then just repeat your gold and blue borders.

Really cute quilt! I do agree that the pinwheels somewhat overwhelm the center. How about adding a wide floral border around the edges and then use the pinwheels on the backing. I love a backing that includes pieced blocks.

Pinwheels on one side is a great idea... a little diffferent which makes the beautiful center motif even more striking. I would go with a "solid" border on the right and around the pinwheels and them maybe half log cabins all around and then bind. Beautiful work

If all four side look too busy to you, I think I would leave just the top and bottom pinwheels and bind it in the yellow/gold.

This is adorable! When I saw the first picture, I thought you could put alternating vertical stripes on the sides, but when I saw the pic with the pinwheels on the side, I loved it.

I think you need to not worry about making it rectangular. She will love it!

Maybe try every other block as a pinwheel, making sure the pinwheels are in the corner? The alternating blocks could be a simple pattern of the two colors, or even a "framed" embroidery piece with paw prints or other appropriate motifs.

I say go with it with the pinwheels on all sides. It looks great!

I like it with the pinwheels on 3 sides. Perhaps down the last side (right), put a solid strip with Tigers (word) appliqued on the strip. Finish it off with a narrow border and binding.

I think you have just been looking at it too long...it is very cute! Go with your first instincts, I don't think it looks too busy. If you are still worried about it put a solid strip between the center and the pinwheels.
