Opinions Please block for our local Shop Hop

I'm in the process of designing the block for our local Shop Hop. There are 11 shops participating, with each shop making a 12" block. Which center looks better? I worry that the print in the center blends too much with the houses. But I also worry that the cream prints will wash it out. But if it's combined with other blocks, or has a sashing, it may be alright. What do you think?

We're using all 4 houses, but I need to know what center fabric to use -- the dark or light?

I would go with the light centers.

I like the lighter fabrics. The darker ones make the houses look like acorns to me.

If the house is light, use dark door and window. If the house is dark, use light door and window.

How about a strip of the light neutral right under the house and then a color for the corner tip? That would separate(float) the houses but create an hourglass if joined without sashing.

I think the one one the upper right stands out nicely.

Either of the lighter center fabrics work. I like the way the upper right block looks, though. Would go with that configuration if it was me.

Beautiful blocks!!! Just switch the 2 on the bottom and you'll have both alternating light and dark in the center... The matching size house of each block will be alternated, too.

I like the light center, for some reason the dark makes me think of a houseboat.

Thank You, Friends! We need more contrast. Light house with dark door and window, and vice versa. And we'll make the centers light.

Yes, Bearisgray, you're right. We're also going to make it a stand-alone quilt with a border that says, "North, South, East or West, Home is the Place I Love the Best." Then you can add "est. 1984"-- or whenever your family was established.

Light centers...see the houses better, but I suggest also a lighter color for door and window, they seem to get list in these.....

Yes, contrast within the house and light centers on all would be striking.

    The houses are darling!

My suggestion would be to try a bright green (grass) directly under the house and a gray (road/sidewalk) or a bright floral (garden) in the center.
