Default Opinions sought for log cabin quilt

This log cabin should measure about 96" square, but I think it may be better if it were rectangular. The sides come down quite nicely on my queen sized bed, but the bottom is a little short. This quilt is for someone else, not for me, so I'd like them to be pleased with it. I don't have a lot of material left, but I may have enough for one more row. Should I try that, or would something else work? I'm afraid the extra row will really screw up the symmetry. What about borders: can I do just two sides or make two longer than the others? Again, I really don't have a lot of extra material to play with so any borders would be pretty thin. Thanks for your input.

I'm no expert, but; I have made wider borders on the end of some quilts to make fit. Don't see why you couldn't.

I have added borders to only the top and/or bottom to make the quilt longer. That works great.

Adding top and bottom boarders would be perfect if you want to make it longer.

That is beautiful. Looking at the picture, the length looks fine to me, you want your bed skirt to show. You have the pillows tucked, so once they get into bed they will have that extra length. I would'nt add any borders, it's gorgeous as is. Good job!

I think the quilt is perfect. Make a couple of quick pillow cases to match it, and they won't need to pull the top up so high. You want your dust ruffle to show too.
