Yes ManiacQuilter2, some warmth and sunshine would likely feel nice too but a roadtrip and some quilt shops actually is feeling like just the thing right now.
Thank you thimblebug6000 and QuiltE I will take those addresses with me. They look like they will be great shops to visit.

Definitely The Running Stitch, http://therunningstitch.ca, located in Kanata (west end of ottawa). Open on Sundays (12-4) too.
Other choices: out in the east end, Quilty Pleasures http://quiltypleasures.ca/. In Carleton Place (20 minutes from the west end of town), The Pickle Dish http://thepickledish.ca/.

Welcome to Ottawa ... (when you are here of course)
We don't have very many, but the Country Quilter is a beautiful shop - lots of quilts and great fabric.
The running stitch has loads of fabric too ... BUT ... keep in mind, fabric up here is quite a bit more expensive than what you are used to paying in the US!
I was in NOLA last week and had a blast buying loads of fabric ...
Hopefully our weather cooperates for you!

I wanted to thank you for suggesting such lovely quiltshops. It was so nice to know where the good shops were.
I found some beautiful material and all were staffed by helpful and friendly people.
Sadly I missed the country quilter. Guess I'll just have to come back and see it next time.
