I'm thinking of getting one of the floor lamps for my sewing room since the lighting is so poor but I'm not sure which one would work best. I have the little portable one that you lift the cover & the light comes on but it seems like I need one that I could put behind my chair to get more light. Joann's has them 50% off so now is the time I should get one. I'm thinking either the ottlite 20W Chadwick one for $75.00 or the ottlite 24W craft plus floor lamp for $100.00. Do any of you have either of these or another one & how do you like them? Any information will help. Thanks!

I don't have an Ott light, but I bought a similar (generic brand) at a discount store for $30. I like mine, it puts out a very natural looking light-does not look yellow.

I don't have an Ott light but a knock off like it. I absolutely love my floor lamp and am hoping that I can someday afford another. Mom got me this one for Christmas from Menards. Its kind of like loews or home depot type store. Lots cheaper and just the same lighting.

    I have 2 Ott lamps.
One is a floor model type, but don't know which model and the other is a clip on. That one is at the end of the table where I cut and the other is at the end where I sew ... I love them

I had an Ott light for several years. Loved the light but I had to replace the ballast 3 times at a cost of about $50 each time. I had to call the company itself to order replacement as no stores carried them. New ballast would last about 2 years. Finally I chucked it and bought a cheaper brand. I like it just as well for the light but the goose neck part is not as well made. My sister has the same model as I had and she has never had to replace the ballast. I don't believe they still make that model. The plug was on the ballast and you could unhook the cord from the ballast

I love ott lites. For Christmas my two kids got me the ottlite 24W craft plus floor lamp for my sewing room it is great. I was kind of worried it would a little too bright but it is not. I have an ottlite 18W craft floor lamp at my chair were I cross stitch. They are great. They are also wonderful to see the true color of things.

I bought a generic brand floor model from Menards a few years back. They were on sale for $17.99. Loved it so much I went back and bought another one. Haven't had to replace bulbs, but they carry them also. My hubby loves it too for reading the paper.

I bought an Ott light floor lamp at Joann's when it was less than 1/2 price. The lighting is great, but I wish the base was heavier. If I move it around, it tips easily. Not a major problem now that I'm aware of it. I just take my time setting it where I want.

I have 4, no, 5 Ott lights. All shapes and sizes. I have had no trouble with any of them and some I have had for years. The one thing I would recommend about the floor models--Be sure you get one with enough weight on the bottom. I heard that there was one or two models that didn't weigh enough and they were prone to falling over around children and such and broke the pretty glass shades. These are the fancier ones I am talking about. I think my nice one for the LR is the Charleston and it's really nice.

JoAnns, has a really pretty floor lamp with an adjustable lamp. It is made out of bamboo. It was less than $100 and with coupon, I paid under $70. I love it. I bought it about 6 months ago.

I bought my ott light at Big Lots. I have two a desk model and a floor model. I love them both. I think I paid less at Big Lots than what they are at JOANN'S on sale. If you have one close you might want to check it out.

I have 2 of the flexible neck ott light floor lamps. The one in the sewing room the plastic on the flex cover on the flex broke, but I still couldn't do without it or at least something comparable.

I had the Ott lamp with the floor base and the magnifier on the "stem". We loved the light from my lamp, but the base was not heavy enough, I had to "anchor" the base under the end of the couch so it would not fall. It fell anyway, and everything broke - shade, light, etc. It lasted almost 2 years. BTW - it arrived with part of the shade broken, my dh taped it together so I could use it.

I now use the "daylight" bulbs in my sewing room in all lamps. It seems to me the light is comparable.

I haven't replaced my lamp because I am satisfied with the light from the daylight bulbs from Lowe's.

The inexpensive model from Menards gives great light and true colors, and the base is good and heavy. No tipping problems.

I have the desk Ott Lamp because I can put it anywhere I need it. It's a must have for me when sewing at night. I have had it for 10 years now and still using the same bulb. I bought a replacement bulb when I bought the lamp. I'm glad I did, the price has tripled on the replacement bulb. My lamp seems much sturdier and heavier then the new ones out now. Why can't a good thing be left alone?

I have the Ott Lite floor lamp. I agree with the other poster who said that the base should be heavier, I've found it somewhat "tipsy" as well. But, I'm not complaining~~~ I found mine at Goodwill for $7.99! They didn't know what they had on their hands!!!

This is the lamp I got at JoAnns. It is nice the base is small but heavy and the lamp does not take up much space. I can keep it beside my chair or move it over by my machine. I love it. Mine was a dark bamboo. but same lamp. http://www.joanns.com/joann/catalog/...DID=xprd120223

I don't have an Ott but the floor lamp I got works great. I would go with a floor lamp.

Same set up that I have! I love my Ott Lights. The floor model is on rollers and has a magnifying glass. So if I want to roll it into the living room and do some handwork, I'm all set.

I have an OTT floor lamp and it weighs a ton! I love it. I also have a small one that is great for when I'm doing applique. :)
