This link shows how to use painter's tape to paint one on a wooden sign. The same idea would work for on a wall. http://www.wikihow.com/Paint-a-Barn-Quilt

Now I'm thinking...what if you did patchwork with wallpaper scraps? I see orphan rolls of wallpaper at thrift stores often.

Hmmmmm!!!

A lady on here, I believe, hand painted different quilt block patterns, like a wall paper border all around the walls in her sewing room. It was wonderful!!!

1st-Thankyou! It took me a good 8 months to a year to paint all those blocks. But I woudn't have wanted it any other way! This has become my most favorite room!
2nd. Yobrosew. If you are wondering how mine turned out, I posted my original blog on 7/27/14 and finally got pics posted on 8/2 or 3/14. It was under the blog title of my sewing room-finally! and my sewing room-finally!-hopefully w pics. I, too, also thought of an entire wall, but changed my mind-like you are supposed to when doing anything involving quilts! I am glad I did it only as a border design. I now have some various sizes quilt racks hanging beneath my designs and hang differnet quilts on them-making it easier to have a different look at a moment's notice! Good luck on whatever you decide. I will keep my eyes open to see the finished pic. Sewsewchickie

i haven't done a wall....but what a great idea....BUT, i did do the covers of the boxed fluorescent lights in my kitchen. They were put in when we built the house and i have never really used them cuz i don't like the light they give off...but was too cheap to have them removed and the ceiling redone.....so......used liquid stained glass stuff to decorate them.

Love your idea! In the 70's I did some murals on "high traffic" walls where we seven kids and all our friends tended to leave fingerprints and scuff marks. Two of the original four murals have survived. Perhaps I should ask Mom if she'd like to change one to a quilt block design! Thanks for the inspiration! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

That soft colored plaid wall and what you did with the fluorescent lights are both beautiful! Great painting, ladies!

Sewnoma, what a great idea!
I just picked up what I thought was wrapping paper and it turned out to be I think a wall border. I might look for other pieces to compliment it. Now there is a use for those wallpaper sample books.
