i know this has been addressed before, but when making a hot pad, do you put the shiny side of the insulbrite facing up or down? Getting ready to put some hotpads together and got stumped!

I don't think it matters -- i've done it both ways for mug rugs.....I can't really tell the difference on the potholders I've made.

shiny side toward the hot stuff (or toward the cold stuff if you are wanting to keep the casserole cold). I'm thinking it reflects the heat away from your hands for pot holders. Happy sewing?

I googled and found that the shiny side should face towards the hot item.

Thanks for asking this Nancy. I'm getting ready to do about 20 table runners for Christmas gifts so I needed to know this too!

You also need to use some Warm and Natural between it and your hand. I didn't and OOOOoooops! That stuff gets HOT!
