Default Pattern for for 8" squares

I'm in SO much trouble. Trying to use up stash but at PL gathering there was a pile, large pile, of 8" blocks. No one was taking them so I did.

So my problem is I don't have ANY IDEA what block would work. I'd hate to cut them down but if I have to l will. Prints, solids, tone on tone. Collection is lot of duplicated blocks...like 10 for some of the patterns. Trying to make quilts for boys and these fabrics may be perfect.

Can any of you guys lend me a hand?

Disappearing nine patch - can be made with any size block. Easy to place specific fabrics to feature them.

What a winfall! That's the sort of thing my dreams are made of. :-)

Maybe a disappearing 9-patch with a bold solid (not necessarily white/cream although that is always okay)? Pinwheels or hourglasses? Your blocks are pretty big, but even just a narrow sashing and cornerstones can be effective. Including a couple of pictures - not sure how close they'll be to what you have available, but both were made with "found" fabrics (not specifically purchased for a project). My 9P was made with 5" squares, I think, and the other one is 7" squares, I believe.

P.S. Elainecovid beat me to the idea while I was looking for a picture! Great minds think alike. :-)

I have made this pattern more than once. It’s well written. You will not need to cut your 8” squares.

Julienm1, if these were in my stash, I would turn them into HSTs using a coordinating a single coordinating solid. You will double what leaves your stash and perhaps make two PL quilts! But on the other hand you have lots of good suggestions from others here. Sew on my, PL friend, sew on!

Mountainpeek Creations has a great website where patterns can be instantly downloaded. Lots of patterns to choose.

This pattern has several names (made it many times for charity) but “The Great Frame Up” is a new one to me and I love it !

This pattern uses 10“ squares but could easily be adjusted to use 8” squares

Thimble if I was having a contest, you would win. I'm going to use your pattern but add one more "bar" across the top. So easy. So fast and no fab waste. https://www.devotedquilter.com/2023/01/switched.html TYSM!!!
