@ audsgirl: Thanks for the great link! I'm definitely going to have to make me one of these for my FW.

I found this in a quick search of QB Tutes. I would put the strap handles all the way around the tote on the long sides of the tote.

Personally, I use a tote from when I went to a quilting camp. It doesn't have a top, but makes a great tote. Very heavy duty material and straps.

my FW case came with a broken handle so I just measured and made a square carrying case with woven handles, works fine....I didn't want to give up the original case. too much histery LOL

I like the one on Crafty Hipster- looks fairly easy to make. I was confused by adding the handles on the ends- Think I'd add them on the long sides instead. I'd make one big enough to hold the whole box. Just got a FW with just the wire remaining for the handle, and put the whole thing into a old LL Bean canvas tote- much easier on the hands! I like the wheeled backpack idea. I've been using a folding wheeled luggage carrier, since I also use a cane. Now I need a third hand for holding stair railings, or maybe an assistant- preferably cute.

Forgot to mention- there are some nice new leather handles for FW cases on EBay, but at $16- $24- I'll use the tote. Before ordering check how the handle attaches on your case- some go east-west, some go north-south, so get the right one.

There's one in this back issue of Quilter's Home Magazine.

This blogger made hers from the pattern in the magazine (above) and then decided to add handles because apparently the handles on the original carrier sometimes give way and cause the FW to fall. Now I'm thinking I need to make one of these too!!!
I just went through my closet full of stacks and stacks of quilt magazines and found this issue! I have already set out some fabrics to see what I want to use. I have not really done any real sewing on my new FW so I think this will be a great project for her maiden voyage in my household. I do think I will also make the carrier that audsgirls found as well.

My friend has a '39 FW with a horrible case. I took it apart and recovered it w/deco fabric and lots of glue. Looks great now.
