Pattern suggestion for 1930 themed fabric?
#11
I like 1930's prints and use them often particularly for children's quilts but not exclusively. Don't be afraid to dive in and use what you have. I frequently use simple traditional patterns. Here are a few of my examples. The first is from a book called "Scrap-Basket Surprises" by Kim Brackett and the second is an Irish Chain. Both have been made multiple times and in multiple sizes. Each is easy to piece, easy to adjust the final size and and be either planned or scrappy. Have fun with you 1930's prints.

I adore the Periwinkle pattern with those prints. Lori Holt has a star pattern in her YouTube series called "Sew Your Stash." It is a fast and easy pattern, but so sweet with those 30's prints. I hope you show your finished quilt!

These all sound/looky like wonderful suggestions! You've all given me great ideas. I'm going to start digging and see what I can find. I'm excited to use this fabric. I've been saving it a long time, so I was worried about what I should do with it! Everyone's work looks beautiful. Thank you for the suggestions, and I'll have to show off my work.

I love your quilt sewbizgirl! I have a quilt I finished, using embroidered squares my grandmother and mother made, and have never been happy with it, so it is hiding in a drawer. I will dig it out and try to do something like this with it! So pretty! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Whatever pattern you choose, I think it should be something that would have been popular in the 1930s.
The Dresden plate was the pattern I chose when I made this quilt from the 1930s retro fabric that I accumulated. Not everything was retro fabric but I tried to pick things that would fit in.

I have done several quilts using 1930 repo's I am in love with these fabrics. One of my favorite patterns is Joseph's Coat. It has a lot of easy curves but well worth it. https://waynedalenews.com/wp-content...ATF-062317.jpg . This is not my quilt in the link but it looks so much like the 2 I made. I made a lap quilt and a King Size quilt.
