All of the shops already listed are quite nice. Obie's is - as reported - a trip in more ways than one. LOL
You will find that all the shops offer a broad spectrum of fabrics, all of which are priced lower than at the Old Country Store.

The Log Cabin and Sylvia's are "must" shops to visit. They are on the same road (I think) in Bird-in-Hand (I think.)
If you go to Sylvia's, don't forget to browse through the second room across the parking lot from the main shop.

the two annual quilt shows in Lancaster, 12 - 15 March 2014 are coming up.
most of the shops in the area (for miles around) have specials starting a few days before the shows start, running through the week of the show.

I'm heading out to the show on Sat, and hope to hit Saunders, and The PA fabric outlet.. I loved Saunders, as the prices were decent, and the staff nice.. I also like the PA outlet, as it is open on Sun, and it is a discount store.. I don't need anything, but love to look.

Thank you all for your responses, they are very helpful. I am going this weekend so hopefully the stores will have some of the sales going.

I also live nearby, and agree with all the other comments. One more place to stop on Route 23 is the Goodville Fabric Outlet. It's on the opposite side of the street from Obie's, and about 1 block west. They have a sign on the roadside. Also, in an email from Sauders:
"Sauder's Fabrics, brick and mortar store, located in Denver, PA is having a storewide 20% off sale starting March 6th and running through March 15th. (closed Sun. March 9th) In addition, we are opening up our warehouse for our quarterly bolt sale. where you will find special low prices on full bolts (no additional discount applies)

The last time I went, the bolts were $3.50/yd., but you must buy the whole bolt, usually 10 to 15 yards. Great for backings!

Of all of those mentioned already, I really like the Fabric Shack. They have an entire room of wonderful flannel as well as other regular quilting cottons. The notions section downstairs is a great resource as well.

Another shop I was at a couple of years ago is Dutchland Quilt Patch http://www.dutchlandquilts.com/about. I was very pleased with their selection and prices. Enough that I bought 16.5 yards of fabric there! I was at the Intercourse, PA location. Huge selection including, at the time, quite an extensive selection of civil war repros.

I miss Old Country. Was definitely a 'must stop'.
