Just remember to use a tiny cork or an eraser on the point of the thumbtack to prevent the quilt from jumping off the point of the tack.

I just order the Sew Simple Circle book and tool from Nancy's Notions. Can't wait to get it in the mail. Will let you know how I like it.

Saw that many years ago and tried it, worked perfect. Was fun, just couldn't figure what I could make with them.

Coffee filters also work. Iron flat and sew directly on to it. I made crazy patch this way. Easy to tear off after.

I was fascinated to see how much longer it seems to take to make the circles with the clever gadgets than it did with the thumbtack and tape! I suppose, as Ms. Zieman says, that the thumbtack method has potential pitfalls, but unless I foresee a huge project with a bazillion circles, that's going to be my way.

Apparently a circle attachment was included with my 1972 Bernina Record because the user manual seems to assume everyone has one, but I bought the machine in 2005, and by then the part had gone missing. It appears that the Bernina attachment clamped to the needle plate some way and stuck out to the left with an adjustable pin to hold the fabric. The manual shows decorative stitches sewn in circles, so that idea might add some additional potential to our projects.
