    Default Pfaff 309

There is a Pfaff 309 for sale locally that is $125. I know that it's a good brand of machines, I have a 1222e. But I'm looking for one to teach my granddaughters how to sew, and wonder if you all might know about this model. Thanks!

Looks like a good, basic machine. It has a metal bobbin case with oscillating hook, which is my favorite bobbin/hook system. However, it doesn't give you control of the stitch width on anything other than the zig-zag. That may not matter for a beginner, though.
