I was at one of my local fabric and machine stores. I tried out the Passport 3 for classes and retreats and I liked it a lot. I have an older Pfaff 1222E which my husband bought for me when we were first married and I loved that machine, especially the IDT foot. Does anyone have the passport machine and if so what do you think of it?

Watching this one. I too, have a Pfaff 1222 with the IDT. Love it! Really like the Passport but want to try it out before I buy. Dealer keeps telling me the Pfaff Ambition sews exactly the same... but its larger and I want the Passport to take to classes and retreats.

I bought a Pfaff Passport 3 last year. None of my other machines are Pfaffs, but I really like this little sweetie! It sews a beautiful stitch, and is easy to take to retreats and classes. It has lots of "big machine" features for a reasonable price, and it is very portable.

I got one when they first came out. It is great for traveling. Very light weight -13lbs as I recall. It makes a nice stitch and is great for piecing (not FMQ as too light). Only thing I don’t like about it is that you have to undo screws when you want to clean the bobbin area. I tend to do that often on all my machines and the screws are annoying to me. I can even live with the smaller bobbin.

I have a Janome platinum Jem that I bought for retreats and classes. Since I already had a larger Janome, it was nice that the feet were interchangeable. It also has many of the features of the larger machine. I especially like the speed control since I am now teaching my 8 year old DGD to sew. Plus, it is small and light enough to fit in a standard carry-on suitcase.

The Passport sounds interesting.

Thank you for your input. I had been wanting to try this machine out and glad I finally did. One of the things that surprised me was how solid it sounded in spite of its small size, but still thinking about buying it.

I bought the Pfaff Passport 3 this summer to use for classes. My favourite feature is the IDT which makes it perfect for classes or retreats since you don't need to switch to your walking foot when you're at the quilting stage. It also helps keep your fabrics feeding evenly when you're piecing. I even find it handy to bring with me for other purposes. For example, I took it with me to my DM's to make button holes for her a jacket she had recently made.

I'm very happy I bought it as I've been enjoying it a great deal.

I just got the Pfaff Passport 3. I am so impressed with it for all the reasons mentioned but especially with the smooth quiet stitching.

I bought the Pfaff Passport 3.0 last year, primarily for classes and workshops. It only weighs 15 lbs. I love it.
Its dependable, easy to use, lots of features, including many stitches. There are also videos on YouTube about this machine. Good luck!
