Has anyone done the Piece in the Hoop, by Larisa Bland?
I went to a class today where she demonstrated how to do so many projects with the Piece in the Hoop book/program! She has a book that she wrote and did the programs!! so pretty, and can't wait to get started!!

I came across piece in the hoop one a machine embroidery website and liked the idea so much that I ordered some patterns.

I tried it several times and gave it up as I think it is highly unpractical. Whenever you add a new piece of fabric you have to fold the previous one over. This can be only done if you take the hoop off the machine and put it on the table. Otherwise you cant press enough.

You might get a very accurat Pinapple block in the hoop but within the same time you would be able to make four pp blocks.......just my five cent.

Do you use a regular sewing machine with this hoop.

I have the book but have not done anything with it yet. I did go to an embroidery weekend program that touched on the process. We made a change purse- so much fun, I am looking forward to more projects like this.

I did a quilt like this several years ago
It was from a Jeanne Harrison design
it was a Victorian crazy quilt
but all the blocks were done in the hoop and then it embroidered the different stitches over the seams (as with crazy quilting)
    it was fun and easy!

She is from our area, in southeast Texas, and has her on website and it has tutorials. I bought the book which has a CD in it and the designs and projects. All the quilts/items that she brought to show, were gorgeous! I bought a "Grandmothers 1930" designs Cd to make, in the hoop! It is amazing! Check out her website..pieceinthehoop.com It all is done with a embroidery machine.
