Here's an idea for kids Christmas gift - choose a themed fabric and make a pillowcase. Add a book that connects with the fabric.
i.e. fabric with moon/stars & Goodnight Moon book

If you're real ambitious, you can make pj bottoms too!

    That's a great idea.

It would be cute to use the new Dr. Suess fabrics with a collection of the books.

Ever since my 5 grandchildren have been born (they are 7- 18 yrs old) I have made them Christmas Eve jammies. When the oldest was little he always wanted matching slippers and sometimes a nightcap. The last few years I have been buying enough of their jammie fabric for pillowcases to match. Have gone to just making the bottoms of the p.j.'s and buying thermal tops. They weren't wearing the tops which was costing me time and money. I usually buy the quilter's flannel which lasts through many washings but can be quite expensive when making whole sets of p.j.'s especially for the kids who are adult sized now.

One year I used a gingerbread print for the p.j.'s and made a stuffed gingerbread man and bought the book. Pillowcases weren't the thing to make then.

I like the Dr. Suess idea. Mine are all too old now but they all have the complete set of books.

I actually did that for my grandmother 2 years ago. I made her a golf pillowcase, PJ pants and put a book in with all sorts of golf statistics. She absolutely loved it.

It doesn't have to be just for kids - could be for anyone. I am doing that again for my cousin who loves gardening and birds.

The pillowcases are a good idea!
Last year I made pillowcases for my nieces and nephew.
Actually I made quilts first. And put the quilts into the pillowcases. No need to wrap!
I machine embroidered their names on the trim, using leftover fabric from the quilts.
