Pin cushion question ?
#11
A friend gave me one filled with sand. I noticed that the pins did not go easily through fabric after being kept in that pin cushion for a few months. I wouldn't use sand. Have any of you had this happen to you?

I make small bag and fill with marbles, rocks or whatever, then place it one third from bottom of pincushion. I buy them from thrift stores, can use acquarium rocks etc. works for me.

skothing ...uh you may love your dog but if you sell or give those pin cushions away you may inadvertently cause someone allergy problems. Walnuts are another allergen. I've just had sinus surgery due to allergies so I speak 1st hand.
When I was young I read that in the bottom of Indian pouches they kept human hair to keep their pins sharp and rust free. I am a hairstylist now and people always ask me to save hair for different things in the spring it will be for gardens.
