Looks to me like you sew strips all around the center square, then snowball two corners. Add one more row of strips around the outside and snowball the same two corners. The rest is sashing and cornerstones.

Chester the Bunny has one without the sashing. Then each block is tipped a different direction. That produced the large square of background fabric.

Pretty block; it's been on my bucket list for some time.

Very similar to a christmas cactus block. I loved making mine long ago. Like someone said goes really fast.

Boston, what you created in EQ isn't actually the Pineapple blossom block. What you drew is the secondary pattern that forms when putting 4 Pineapple blossom blocks together. Which is easier to see in Chester's example. Try going to Bonnie Hunter's site for it. I think you will find the quilt much easier to assemble if you make her blocks.

Kalama your PB is gorgeous done in turquoise and browns. All that have posted made lovely quilts. Chester's done in homespuns and the neat variation in setting done by Pagzz.

Oh gee....I was only wanting the middle section. I wonder if my sister could show me how to paper piece it.

I guess I'll have to name it something else as well.
