I used to always hold pins in my mouth until one day I saw my grandbaby mimic me!!! Now I use a magnetic pin cushion attached to my wrist --- works great.

I HAVE BEEN SEWING 4 DAYS IN A ROW AND ONLY PUT ONE PIN IN MY MOUTH. DON'T THEY SAY IT TAKES 21 DAYS TO BREAK OR MAKE A HABIT? IT IS SO FUNNY NOW I AM SO CONCIOUS OF IT AND THATS A GOOD THING.

Thanks for the information. I do hold pins in my mouth, sometimes, but now I will have to learn to stop!

Me too, but I have to put a string on my finger to remind me to remove them before I pull it off over my head.

my home ec teacher said she use to always put pins in her mouth until she hiccuped and swallowed some ende up in the hospital to have them removed so i never have put them in my teeth or lips as that would be really scary

I broke myself of the habit after I started working for a sewing machine company where I also taught sewing and realized that if I put the pins in my mouth and everyone else did too it was a great way to catch the swine flu that was going around. End of story end of putting pins in my mouth.

Also cutting thread with your teeth is a bad habit. Soooooo I am trying very hard to stick the pins in a cushion from now on. Thought I would pass this along. :-D

I sewed some wide elastic on a small tomato pin cushion for my left wrist. Works great and always right where I need it. Only have to roll my wrist a little to reach my pins. My daughter puts pins in her mouth even tho I made her a tomato wrist pin cushion. Aghhhhhh.

That's good info. Because I teach out of my home I've learned to be very careful about putting pins in my mouth. I sometimes have to share with my students and those kind of germs I can do without.

i never used my teeth but had pins in between my lips so I would not swallow them. It is hard to break the habit after all these years but I will definitely try. Thanks.
