Prewound Bobbins
Where do y'all get your prewound bobbins? I'm needing to order more, but want to get the best price. So far, All Threads seems to have the best price that I can find, but I wanted to check with y'all and make sure I didn't miss something. I'm wanting gray bobbins so that kinda limits my choices. Oh, and I need class a or size 15. This place has free shipping and that's a plus for me too.

I have never used prewound bobbins. Other than the obvious benefit of not having to wind them myself, what is the advantage? What do you do with all the bobbins once you empty them? I'm just not seeing why people buy these so enlighten me please.

For the last few years, I have been in the habit of keeping threads & bobbins together so I know they match. I just use sandwich bags to keep them in. For my LA, I use whatever size zip bag the cone & bobbins will fit in. When quilting, I wind at least 7 or 8 bobbins before I start so I can keep quilting while I am in the mood. Plus that bobbin winder is harder to use, so I usually get hubby to help. In my sewing room you will find poly, nylon, disappearing, cotton 40 weight & cotton 50 weight, cotton 60 weight and silk. Definitely a diversity.

I order from Superior Threads and Bobbin Central. Prewounds have even tension and much more thread on the bobbin then I can wind myself. I buy the paper backed pre wounds and take the paper off. My Quantum machine has a funny shaped bobbin so I have to wind those but I only use it for decorative stitching.

FYI on what to do with emptied prewound bobbins. I don't know about Superior, but Bobbin Central has a bobbin return program..
(The bobbins aren't reusable without, I assume, their machinery.)
I wind my own bobbins too. My sewing machine has an excellent bobbin winder and my quilter has a decent standalone bobbin winder.

I ordered mine off Amazon (fil-tech by Glide) they have a return policy for the centers. As I empty a bobbin, just put it back into the box they came in, they give you credit towards your next box. I use them on my LA and embroidery machine. They are wound tighter and more even plus hold more thread so not as many changes. I spent some time working out the costs of wind my own and prewound and they were about the same. JMHO
