Wow! I am sooo pleased. I picked up a new tool at the Lancaster Quilts show in March called "The Binding TooL" and just tried it out tonight. It works wonderfully. When I would do binding, I could never get the part where you finish and start to match up nicely and lay flat. It was always very obvious where that area was joined. With this tool, it was very easy and came out perfectly. The tool and demo by the Missouri Quilt Company can be seen here. (I would recommend watching the demo several times after you get the tool and before you do it for the first time.

Does anyone else have this handy dandy little darling and how do you like it. As quilting tools go, it wasn't that expensive.

This is an updated video without all the quilt show background noise.

thanks for sharing, hadn't seen that tool yet

nursie76 05-28-2010 09:12 PM

I am just so excited at how nicely it worked! Now I just need to try the Master Curve foot I got at the same show and see if it works as promised.

craftybear 05-28-2010 09:16 PM

one of the quilt shop owners came to our quilting guild and demonstrated the master curve foot and was so cool, I haven't bought one yet, she sold out and later went to her shop and was sold out

WOW..I just spent over half an hour watching all their fun videos. I have been taught how to do this type of binding, by marking on my own, and then putting it together and sewing, but I WANT this tool. It will make it so much easier, and more accurate. Love the looks of this. I have added this company to my favorites..thank you so much. Joanie

Kyiav10 05-28-2010 09:27 PM

I have been eyeballing that binding tool, it really looks slick :D:D:D

I once saw on a "Paid Program" an instructor asking everyone: "If you could have as much money as you wanted, what would you wish for?"

The girl answered, "Enough money to buy all the $19.99 things I see on the info commercials!"

I would add: "Enough money to buy all the notions and material and patterns for quilting I see and want, don't forget the featherweight! Also to have my house paid off!"

I got the Binding tool at Christmas. I haven't tried it yet. I need to get it out an watch the demo's

quiltinghere 05-29-2010 03:15 AM

That's a neat tool - I bought (and haven't used) the Fons and Porter one. Similar marking but doesn't have the angle at the end for slicing the fabric. F&P has you drawing the diagonal line - sew - and then cut away.

I may have to modify the F&P one. :)

sewsewquilter 05-29-2010 04:47 AM

I got that tool when they had it on deal of the day. Haven't used it yet. THANKS! for the you tube link. I need to finish a quilt so I can try it out. :-)

isnthatodd 05-29-2010 04:54 AM

That wonderfulll-looking toool is now on my "must get" list. Thanks for sharing the idea and the video. She explained it perfectly.

AmyM 05-29-2010 05:05 AM

I used to be afraid of any kind of curve sewing until I got the Curve Master Foot. It works like a dream. I'm not afraid of curves anymore.

shaverg 05-29-2010 06:39 AM

I bought mine in January. It is wonderful. I am glad they updated the video. The first video the instructions were not quite so clear.

craftybear 05-29-2010 06:52 AM

yes, glad they updated the video also

I bought one. haven't tried it yet. Glad to hear all the good reports.

craftybear 05-29-2010 07:28 AM

okay everyone that has this binding tool, get it out and use it! they say you will love it!

you have a cool tool and haven't used it yet

nursie76 05-29-2010 08:11 AM

Yep it was the best $10 I ever spent when it comes to quilting notions.

I paid a lot more for the Master Curve Foot, so I hope I am just as happy with that when I finally try it. Thanks for the input.

lfw045 05-29-2010 08:15 AM

If it hit deal of the day again I might consider it but I can't see paying that much for a ruler when I can do it myself and buy a yard of fabric instead.......LOL!

Rainbow 05-29-2010 08:46 AM

WOW ... Looks so easy !!!

nursie76 05-29-2010 08:47 AM

It really was! And I never could get it right the traditional way.

thismomquilts 05-29-2010 08:58 AM

Looks like something I'll need to get when I have an extra dime or two - thanks.

collector49 05-29-2010 09:35 AM

I just used my last night. I watched the video with the quilt in front of me, marking it as I watched. It was the second time I used it, so I needed a refresher. It turned out perfectly.

sewjoyce 05-29-2010 09:38 AM

Just ordered mine!!

OK, when you have the occasion to bind a mini quilt that's 12" (or less) on either side -- then what do you do???? :D

sew4fun 05-29-2010 09:42 AM

Have not used it yet but I got one at the Machine Quilters Showcase in Overland Park, Kansas a couple of weeks ago.

craftybear 05-29-2010 09:42 AM

awesome!

craftybear 05-29-2010 09:42 AM

I was told that you can only use that tool for one size of binding????

Holice 05-29-2010 09:43 AM

I bind without any tools. You can see a demo on www.quilterstv.com under Quilters Cafe and schrool down until you find it.

I cut mine anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 works fine, no problem. But that is about as wide as I make mine normally. Most of the time 2 1/2. The tool itself is 2 1/2 wide.

One of the best investments I have made.

I think that it was intended for 2-1/2 inch, but I would think that there must be some way to use it for wider or narrower. The angle at which the two ends are cut would be the same I think. I would email the Missouri Quilt Company and ask.

ctmhjenn 05-29-2010 10:37 AM

I had an instructor tell me she paid $200 for a class to learn how to do this on her own..and she taught it to us, but I'll tell ya, if you don't pay attention to what you are doing, (and I never seem to be all there) you can screw it up. This tool is just the ticket. I just have to remember how to use all these gadgets, and there are MANY of them. Saw the curved foot, and I am a GO on that gizzy too..Joanie

craftybear 05-29-2010 10:37 AM

awesome, thanks for the information as I just called Jenny at Missouri Quilt Company on the phone and chatted with her

Crafty bear, what did she say?

nursie76 05-29-2010 10:39 AM

Craftybear - That's great! I have used their videos a lot to learn new techniques or brush up on the basics. I am still an intermediate newbie so I can use all the help I can get and their videos fit the ticket perfectly.

craftybear 05-29-2010 10:49 AM

I just did a search and think I found the video from quilters cafe

I called Jenny at Missouri Quilt Company about the binding tool. I asked her if you could use it to make different sizes and she wasnt' sure and was going to check it out for me. I will call her back in a few weeks to find out what she discovered. I told her I liked the 2nd video better as it was easier to understand.

when I talked to Jenny at Missouri Quilt Company I told her that we were discussing this on the board, and that she would probably be getting orders

(I am not affiliated at all with Missouri quilt Company, just found this cool tool and her site was selling them) so I called her on the phone
