I have been told many times that I am crazy since I started my Snake River Log Cabin. 4,460 pieces to cut and sew. Maybe they are right?

19angel52 04-06-2011 03:16 AM

oh yeah - it's a badge of honor for quilters. A lot of people just don't get it - until you give them a quilt. It changes their belief in a heartbeat, lol.

978gray 04-06-2011 03:17 AM

OHH YEAH!!

In fact in place of work it is a prerequisite and we all know it. Sane people need not apply.

jeanneb52 04-06-2011 03:27 AM

I used to work in a Psych Hospital and the gang there was alwasy telling me I was crazy! They ougtha know....

kuntryquilter 04-06-2011 03:29 AM

Before the quilting bug bit me, I also thought anyone who would take prefectly good fabric and cut it into so many small pieces, just to sew it back together, was Crazy. I have since changed my mind. It is so adictive.

Don't call anyone crazy until you have used their cutting table & rotary cutter and sat at their quilting machine. LOL

redmadder 04-06-2011 03:34 AM

Come on Odessa. Throw in a few pins and needles while you're at it.

Hen3rietta 04-06-2011 03:37 AM

All the time.

grann of 6 04-06-2011 03:45 AM

Yes, my DDIL told me I was crazy when I told her I wanted a Long Arm. Then when she saw one working at the Lancaster Quilt Show and saw the price she was convinced I am crazy.

kaykwilts 04-06-2011 03:46 AM

crazy? Who's crazy??? I thought I was just a little further down the road when it comes to being different!!!

ah man....now I have to think of myself as crazy???

nah...I think not!!

I think all those people that prefer to spend their days and nights glued to their TV sets or playing video games the ones that are CRAZY!!

Me? I am just different!!!!!

mar32428 04-06-2011 03:54 AM

I got the same comment. Why do you cut that fabric apart just to sew it back together again? My answer. Why do you keep knocking that little white ball into hole after hole and have to chase it all over the place. No further comments.

quilt3311 04-06-2011 03:59 AM

I would have quipped " Oh, no this is what keeps me sane" OUCH!! grin

Ha Ha ha rof lol!!! I agree. When my daughter brought her husband home for the first time, she told him, "Be careful, the
(last name)'s will suck the sanity right out of you!"

Kayaker26 04-06-2011 04:34 AM

Totally NOT a quilter answer!

fireworkslover 04-06-2011 04:37 AM

I've been told by other quilters I was crazy when they saw the tiny pieces in the pp blocks I made. Or fusing tiny triangles cut from strips that were 1/4" wide.

They are Philistines

Dodee 04-06-2011 04:52 AM

This is just one of the many reasons I love this site - I find out I'm not the only crazy one.

alleyoop1 04-06-2011 04:55 AM

We are as crazy as the man who seeds, fertilizes and waters his lawn just so he has something to mow all summer! And let's not even talk about the cost of all the gadgets he buys for his 'hobby'.

We are crazy enough to take a perfectly good piece of fabric, cut it all up and sew it back together and end up with a beautiful creation that is functional to boot! For me it's therapy - better than watching TV all day long.

Yes, I will sit for hours, cutting up perfectly good fabric, sewing it back together and pressing it, but I will never jump out of a perfectly good airplane only to slowly float(hopefully) to the ground with the aid of a big square of fabric. Call me crazy, hey, don't we have a quilt named after us?

LOVE THIS RESPONSE - I always knew all that fabric was just wrong!!!

Now I know finally @ 77 I'm "creative"

reginalovesfabric 04-06-2011 05:01 AM

your with good company

GemState 04-06-2011 05:02 AM

What does he do for fun?? It would be great if he were a golfer! Imagine trying to hit a little ball with a stick and making it go into a hole....and paying to do it!!!

Does that make me crazy? Hmmmmm......methinks NOT!

Be sure to sew lace on the edges of his undies and at the hem of his pants....or sew the legs shut about 3/4 of the way down. Of course some marking chalk on the inside of them would be good to so every time he sat down it would go "poof"!

Just kidding of course but dang it's soooo tempting.

MillieMoseley 04-06-2011 05:28 AM

OH yeah lots of times but I usually think that of the person that says it to me too. I think we all have our own little bit of crazy in us.

Drew 04-06-2011 05:32 AM

Picture please!!

marthe brault-hunt 04-06-2011 05:40 AM

Where, how and why some quilts are called *crazy* quilts!

CorneliaVa 04-06-2011 05:42 AM

More often than not :?

pollym44 04-06-2011 06:09 AM

YES, QUILT CRAZY, an honorable title!!

Vat 04-06-2011 06:14 AM

I'm not crazy, I love cutting up fabric and sewing it back together. You are not crazy either.

nunnyJo 04-06-2011 06:21 AM

by my husband, everyday but then what does he know?

Bernie942 04-06-2011 06:32 AM

Wellll if it we didn't have "crazy" people with "crazy" ideas we wouldn't have electricity, TV, computers, cars, etc.

bamamama 04-06-2011 06:34 AM

I have done quilts with so many little squares that I thought that I was crazy without anyone having to tell me. I sewed them together anyway!

mountain deb 04-06-2011 06:34 AM

Weeeellllll, I am glad you admitted it, and came out of the closet. Welcome to our world.

DeniseP 04-06-2011 06:36 AM

I've been told I'm crazy many times and for various reasons. Sometimes it was not far from the truth.

mimee4 04-06-2011 06:52 AM

I'm laughing, too. Crazy - yup, that's me and the rest of us quilters. Once you get into the crazy mode, it slips over into the rest of your life and what fun that is!!

LilaKay 04-06-2011 06:58 AM

My sister-in-law thinks I'm crazy to cut material apart then sew it back together then I told her I think she is crazy to buy yarn and knit socks...to me it's the same difference just a different talent!

Landers 04-06-2011 07:14 AM

All the time when It comes to my quilting and my quilts! It is okay to be crazy!!!! about quilting

mimiof3 04-06-2011 07:28 AM

Crazy - yep. But I feel that I'm just being creative and having fun in the process.

BJ SewKkrazzy 04-06-2011 07:38 AM
