Today I brought in my quilt top to show my co-workers and boss that I'm making for my DGD (who is due any day now).

He looked at it and asked me if all those little squares had to be sewn together... I told him yes they did.

His reply ... "Just another sign you're crazy" and walked out of my office.

I cracked up.

How about you...have you been told you're crazy?

Grama Lehr 04-05-2011 06:46 AM

More times than I can count!!
Must be a good thing, I love the company of quilters!!

dpparris 04-05-2011 06:47 AM

TOO FUNNY

fabric whisperer 04-05-2011 06:48 AM

we're not crazy, just creative! The fabric wasn't right when it was all one piece of "the same" ~ we improved it by putting it back together "right" haa haa LOL

Stacey 04-05-2011 06:48 AM

No... this is why we are NOT crazy.

cjomomma 04-05-2011 06:49 AM

I don't call that crazy, I call it creative. Yes I have been told many times I'm crazy. I am working on a quilt that is about to drive me crazy :-)!!

tweezy50 04-05-2011 06:50 AM

Husband said that too. He can't understand why someone would want to cut up fabric and sew it back together again. He says, "Why not just buy the patterned blanket you want to begin with?" He hasn't got a clue.

ruck9085 04-05-2011 06:51 AM

Countless times! But, at least I'm in good company. I think all quilters must be a tad be off the wall! If we aren't when we start, we soon will be! LOL!

lileth1374 04-05-2011 06:51 AM

All the time! You know, when you live in the South, we don't hide our "crazy" family members. We bring them out for everyone to see.

Mariposa 04-05-2011 06:55 AM

Many times! We're not crazy, just very creative! Sometimes intensely so! :)

TonnieLoree 04-05-2011 06:55 AM

I had an ex-BF that said he could not understand why someone would go out and buy perfectly good material, cut it up into little pieces, then turn around and sew it back together again. He just didn't understand. If that makes me crazy, then so be it.

Lori S 04-05-2011 07:27 AM

I have learned from the many times I have heard it.. it is one of the highest forms of a compliment!

LeslieFrost 04-05-2011 08:27 AM

Too funny!

crafty_linda_b 04-05-2011 08:35 AM

Did you tell your boss this is what keeps you from going crazy?? *LOL* it's our therapy!! My Mom used to tell me "I was just as happy as if I had good sense" Maybe that was a nice way of saying I was crazy?? Linda B.

quiltsRfun 04-05-2011 08:38 AM

That's pretty much what my dad said when I showed him a design I was working on. "Do you have to sew all those little squares together?" He might have thought I was crazy but he didn't say it. Guess that's because he's my dad. LOL

Cuilteanna 04-05-2011 08:42 AM

Oh yes. I made a miniature quilt for a swap. It was 12"x12" and had over 600 pieces. When she took it to her quilt group to show one woman told her I must be insane, LOL!

pocoellie 04-05-2011 08:44 AM

Absolutely, especially by my husband. LOL

The operative word there is "Ex". Some people aren't smart enough to get us.

MadQuilter 04-05-2011 02:07 PM

yes, but usually not in relation to quilting. lol

emerald46 04-05-2011 04:03 PM

OdessaQuilts 04-05-2011 06:07 PM

Well, for years, my husband has threatened to toss and burn all my quilting "gear" when I die ... fabrics, threads, machines, books, etc.

Now, we're getting a divorce and I am packing up his stuff to take into his new apartment ... and he's going to find little triangles of fabric inside each and every box with all the rest of his junk. Let's see what he says about THAT!

Does that make me crazy? Hmmmmm......methinks NOT!

Unique Creations 04-05-2011 06:36 PM

If Quilters are crazy, then we are all in good company!!

happyscrappy 04-05-2011 06:53 PM

yeah, but isn't it a great crazy to be?

You are very considerate, I would have made him pack his own junk!!!!!

deedum 04-05-2011 07:17 PM

Oh yea, sometimes I think I am crazy! I don't get one quilt done and three more were started! What was I thinking? I am in so deep:)

Six hundred and nine pieces to be exact.

Beffy_Boo 04-05-2011 10:30 PM

Many times but it had nothing to do with quilting

Nanamoms 04-05-2011 10:38 PM

I thought for a minute you were talking about cutting up "his clothes" into little pieces!! ROFL And you're nice enough to pack for him? You might just be "crazy"!!

At least we "crazies" have an excuse to do anything we want to do! :)
