I have NO patience for hand sewing. I get frustrated. Besides, I just don't have the time. One reason I got a Featherweight that I can take anywhere.

I take along applique or I have started a log cabin type block that is good for that.

Sorry, I don't like doing applique. It's the A word for me. However, I do love applique quilts! Just won't be mine!! (LOL) Anyways when traveling I take along cross stitch, embroidery, knitting or crocheting. Depends on what project needs to be done next.

Here's where mine is in progress (about 1/2 way done)....the flowers aren't sewn together yet. I want to wait until i have them all done so I can move them around. No two will be the same.

I am makiang a Sunflower table topper using needle turn applique. It is getting VERY close to finished, and I'm glad, cause summer will be here and gone soon and I'd like to see it on the table.

I was making a lot of yo-yo's but I just got some English paper pieces so I'm going to give that a whirl.
I love to have hand work to take along. My quilt that I'm hand-quilting is kinda big!

I'm currently working on a GFG with 3/8" hexies.

Patticake 06-24-2011 01:08 PM

Me too. GFG. The top is almost done and the hand quilting will begin soon. Then I start another carry along project. My next one is redwork. I love having something with me when I'm away from home.

I'm doing an apple core quilt as my current carry-along project. I've done them before. I just can't machine sew these without every other one getting a pucker, so I stick with hand sew for this.

Usually I do crocheting or knitting, but I got tennis elbow and both of those crafts have been on hold. A new needle threader makes it much easier to thread my needle away from home in all kinds of lighting.
