A small plastic ziplock bag of squares to hand sew into 3D Bowtie blocks - (5 pieces + four seams), it goes fast. I carry another larger gallon sized plastic bag that holds the finished blocks, thread and needle and the bag of squares.
Basically, this is the not so old fashioned version of the
10 minute blocks....( I sew the same total distance... but it twists my mind more! LOL!)

I'm curious as to what it looks like.

Its like spools, but with curved sides and top. All the pieces fit together in an all-over pattern, made from only one pattern shape - the apple core shape.
Each shape is turned so the sides fit into the top of the adjacent one.
If you have been quilting that long, betcha a piece of chocolate you have seen at least a picture of one because I am pretty sure it has other names! Google it luv, and bet you will chuckle....

I like applique occasionally but now am yearning to do an embroidery winter scene with 9 patches around it that are pieced. This way I will have both some hand work and pieced work.

I usually bring crocheting or cross stitch with me. I also work on those when I'm watching TV with dh, usually in bed at night. I'm almost done with dd's afghan that I started at the first of the year, time to look for a new project to start.

I once embordiered a table cloth riding from NC to GA--only to discover I'd worked on the back side...ripped it out, of course! It did me in with cross-stitch. June

Totally not sewing related, but I really like knitting to take along :). It's so relaxing and mindless for me.
