All I can say is, "I'm in LOVE". I wish I'd discovered it sooner. Anybody else love theirs?
|
My 1/4" foot is not my favourite.
But my walking foot sure is. Once I discovered that I can move my needle position to the left or right in tiny increments, I figured out where exactly on the foot to use as a reference and where exactly to set the needle for the perfect "scant 1/4 inch." Sure makes a difference! |
I have the "Little Foot" and love it :D:D:D
|
I hope the new machine I got at the auction has one. There were about 15 feet with it. Too busy and will soon be heading south so will not get to play with it until the spring. I am taking my old machine with me since I know what it does.
|
The 1/4" foot sure makes my piecing life easier
|
I love my 1/4" feet (one is bladed and one isn't) and really like the fact that they work with the IDT which is like a built in walking foot for my Pfaff.
These are the best inventions. If you ever use a Kwik Sew pattern they are also great since most are 1/4" seam allowance. |
I love mine. I had the little foot and it was great too but when I got my first Janome about 11 yrs ago I bought a regular patchwork foot and it was SO nice to have the snap on type. Now, though, I have the Janome clearview 1/4" foot and like it so much better.

I love mine too. I sew a lot of small pieces and once I started sewing with the 1/4" foot my accuracy has greatly improved. Don't sew without it now.
|
What is a 1/4" foot? It sounds like a nice attachment to have.

The bladed one made so much difference! I decided to keep quilting after I got it. I was getting pretty frustrated before that.
|
Im not sure if I like it or not. It doesnt have the guide. I think a guide would make a great bit of difference

Don't know about the clear view 1/4" foot for the Janome, I have the 1/4" foot that came with the machine. What is the differance between the two?

Maybe once or twice ;-) |
I'm making the Farmers Wife Sampler quilt and if I didn't have my 1/4" foot (with blade) I'd never get those small pieces to line up. I love it!

Mine has the guide on the right side and I'm so spoiled, I can't imagine piecing without it. LOVE it.
|
For those of you who have the 1/4" foot with the side flange/blade...
When you are doing something like hst's where you are not sewing along the edge of the fabric, do you remove the foot and put a regular foot on? Or can you sew with the blade running ACROSS the fabric? I hope you understand what I am trying to ask...LOL. |
Yes you can sew with the blade on the fabric.

I'm not sure this explanation helped. I think I just confused myself. |
The clear foot can also be made into a 1/8" foot. Not a big deal for some probably. I like a 1/8" seam (like for shadow quilting) sometimes.

it is a snap on foot, and i believe,it can be bought for high shank or low shank machine. so be sure to ask, to get the right one. "big foot" is used for Free motion quilting. it also goes by what machine you have.. "little foot" "big foot" |
I recommend the bladed one to all my students. Wouldn't be without one (I have at least 3(:) one for each machine:)
|
Just a heads up, to the new piecers/quilters, just because you have a 1/4" foot on your machine, does NOT mean you get the 1/4" seam allowance!
your machine needle needs to be moved to the left or right, to get the proper seam allowance. "getting the 1/4" seam allowance" video (one way) http://video.about.com/quilting/Quar...-Allowance.htm |
I would never have the preciseness (is that a word) if I didn't use my 1/4 inch foot. It is a must have for me. Same with my sid foot. Makes quilting so much easier and fun!
|
I have 1/4" foot with the guide and I love it.

Absolutely! I, too, love mine. It has made a huge HUGE difference in how accurate my seams are. They're still not perfect but they are improving steadily.
|
Love it-- keeps my seams straight and even.
|
I have the 1/4" foot with the guide and find my accuracy is so much improved. Just love it and recommed it to everyone.
My Sew and Vac man took it off of a machine he had for sale on the floor. How's that for accomodating? |

Love , Love it down there.Texas is so friendly. |
The clear view foot has markings for starting and stopping 1/4 in when piecing and has 2 blades to attach. One for the quarter inch and the other for stitch in the sitch. Most of our customers rave about it. It is also just a quarter inch all by it's self.
|
I have one with the guide. Love it, however be careful to stay just off the guide as opposed to bumping up to it with your fabric otherwise you may not have an accurate 1/4 " seam. I learned this the hard way!
