Hi Everyone,
I was recently given a LOT of material, and among the stash is a beautiful set of 1.5 inch squares. I know they have a name (can't remember what they are called), but I really wondered what I can do with them? They are obviously from a fabric company, as they are in sets of about 8, then the pattern repeats with slightly different colors.

Any ideas on how to use them for a quilt?

Help!

I've been sending mine to another board member as she's making a CRUMB quilt with them!!!

You know how you're "supposed" to do a lead strip where you sew onto scrap fabric, then sew onto your real pieces, then finish on a scrap? The idea being something about... ya know, I don't know why you're supposed to do it, I just know that I minimize the bird's nests when I start. Maybe that's it.

Anyway, why this is relevant: I am making a quilt out of 1.5" squares. Only 1.5" squares. Rather than using scraps as the leaders, I have a pile of squares and I sew 2 together, then sew my regular pieces, and end by sewing 2 together. I've gone through probably about 100 and that was without actively sewing them, ya know? So now I just need to iron them all, and then they go back through the rotation and get sewn again. So this way, I'll have a beautiful quilt of tiny squares and it was no big deal to do!

Make a postage stamp quilt. I cut a lot of my tiny scraps into 1 1/2" and keep them in a box. When I travel, I take some and hand sew them together just as a past time. There are a lot of requests for 1 1/2" squares on this board and it's fun to send them to others. "Rhonda" on this board does beautiful potholders, bookmarks, etc. with these tiny squares and i've made some of her designs and love them.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone!

How many of them are there? I've been working on a postage stamp quilt with all of my little 1 1/2 blocks. It's a real pain but is going to be really pretty. You could do anything from placemats to baby quilts, lap quit table cloth. So many things. Even a miniture quilt. the possibilities are endless. If all else fails make pot holders.

Here are two little quilts I have made for my twin grands. Hers is a WIP. His is finished. They are Christmas presents for their "Build-A-Bear" animal friends. They are like micro mini EYE SPYs. I hope you like them. Blessings.
