I just made my first pair using this great tutorial from Missouri Quilt Co (just look at their project section).
http://tutorials.missouriquiltco.com/ It seems a little confusing until I had everything cut and followed along with the pinning of the first one. Every seam was perfect. Great tutorial. |
I've made 10 so far. My LQS just started donating to a 2nd shelter because they had so many (didn't ask about the total). The owner just showed ms a "bunch" of letters from the recipients, they loved them!

We are having a "Pillowthon" sewing "Bee" at my LQS in August in place of our regular class. It will be fun just to sew and visit.

I just finished making 8 Tuesday to add to my other 8. I have more fun making these and choosing the fabrics.
I use this link: http://tutorials.missouriquiltco.com/ Jenny really explains well. Her tutorial is wonderful. I make these on my own, no guild or group or LQS involved. You just follow the directions on this link as to what to do. So easy. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases/ Pastors wife and I have spoken about doing them and at teh next women's meeting I will have a plan and present it. Even if I am the only one that shows up, I will be doing them. Otherwise, even if the ladies can't sew, some cook (we gotta eat), some can measure and cut, some can iron, others can sew. All will be welcome to come. I will be giving mine to a group home here in my county. There are approximately 48 kids there. After that, I will be making them for the veterans who must stay in the continuing care/nursing hom part of our VA hospital. |
I've made close to 75 of them, thanks to fabric donated by two friends. It is a very worthwhile cause. Help is needed to get to the 1,000,000 goal.

Last year my guild donated almost 350 pillowcases. We hope to beat that number this year.

I have made several. I'm waiting for my new featherweight to do more sewing. My lighter machine need fixed. So I will sew this next week again. I will havr to ask the shop and see how many we have had turned in so far

I had to share. These are the first pillowcases I have made that I actually like. I used the tutorial I posted from the Missouri Star Quilt Company but I think I messed up their name on my previous post and I want to make sure I correct that. Sorry about the bad photography. I really should crop that one.
