But I'm pleased with my progress so far. I need it to be queen sized for our bed as I'm making this one for us.

I am in the middle of making an Eleanor Burns pattern, "Piece of Cake," using layer cakes and it's looking very cool. It's looks like a disappearing 9 patch. I still have to sew the blocks together. It's using "Nature's Christmas" fabric by Moda.

I am making a king size quilt for our bed.

WOW - gorgeous - I can see why you didn't want to cut the layer cakes into smaller pieces.

Hi, Sandy... and welcome from Texas.

There's a huge library of quilt patterns of all sizes on Quilters' Cache http://www.quilterscache.com/, or Janet Wickell has quite a few on about.com http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpa...uilt-Patterns/. Good luck! This should keep you busy for longer than you ever anticipated. <G>

Many of the fabric manufacturers ( Like Moda, Hoffman as examples) - on their website, post patterns for the pre-cuts they sell ( like layer cakes )......just one more source for you to check out.....

Others gave you great suggestions, so I will only take this opportunity to welcome you from North Texas. froggyintexas

Justflyingin. This is the quilt pattern I've been looking for, could you tell me where to find it?

I didn't have a pattern but searched the internet for how to make a shadow quilt and knew that I didn't want to cut up my squares.

So, I sketched it out on paper--no, really, just in my mind...I used a 2" wide shadow and used the off white all the other spots. I made the shadow come down 2.5" on the top and 2.5" on the side. The rest is just adding off -white strips.

I've seen that quilt pattern in a book, but I can't for the life of me remember which book, and I no longer own it. :(

Hello and welcome from Illinois.

I agree. Jenny Doan, on Missouri Star Qtg. Company is my "go to" tutorials. Love her.

I love this quilt and have the perfect fabrics to make it! But I can't find the pattern anywhere. Can you tell me the name and where I might buy it? Thanks so much!

Oh, just read all the replies and see you made it up yourself, and how. Guess I'll use your directions and go from there. Thanks for sharing!

Welcome to you from Northern Arizona. Try Missouri Star Quilt Co. Jenny Doan has a ton of videos on tutorials using 10" layer cakes. She does a tutorial using layer cake size fabric called "Double Slice Layer Cake".
Where are you from in Montana? I was born and raised in Montana and miss the country side so much. Still have lots of family up there.
