I just won! Got up early this morning ready to finish two graduation quilts. Needed to finish the applique on border and quilt one and add the binding and label to the other.

Well, went to work on the border. Needed to starch and press a portion I had just free motion embroidered, and guess what! I picked up the spray baste! Gave it a good heavy spray before I noticed which can I had in my hand! Have you ever tried to wash that stuff out! Not easy! I think I got it all. Sure don't want to redo the whole border. Takes over an hour to do. You can bet I will remember to put the spray baste back where it belongs from now on. Not on the ironing board!

patricej 05-02-2010 08:03 AM

you have obviously been hanging around me too long. that sounds exactly like something i'd do.

i gave up using aerosol deoderant. got tired of hair spray in my arm pits. :XD:

PatriceJ - You're a hoot!!!!

I guess this is just one of those days, my cable modem went out and just finally replaced it. Patrice I told you computers could make you act like a fool!!! My third day with Comcast!!
 Finally, this one girl noticed my modem wasn't acting properly and notified me of this. OMG!!! Could have had this problem taken care of 3 days ago.

amma 05-02-2010 08:15 AM

Mama said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this, Mama said

It is better to laugh at ourselves, than to throw a hissy.... although those do feel kinda good too, on occasion LOL

bearisgray 05-02-2010 08:17 AM

I've learned the hard (expensive) way to LOOK AT THE LABEL of the container that's in my hand before doing anything else with it!!!!

Fray-check is not a good substitute for sewing machine oil.

I noticed it within minutes - and hustled the machine off to Round Robbin (they were still open at 8:30 PM that night - I moved as fast as a top-notch EMS team with that machine. They probably had to completely take it apart and put it together again. I did a VERY thorough job of "oiling" it. It was a "bit" embarrassing to explain what I had done to the machine, though.

bearisgray 05-02-2010 08:30 AM

There is a very long thread on here somewhere that will probably give you competition for the First Prize - - - -

craftybear 05-02-2010 09:11 AM

that is awful, look at it this way you got a prize!

sewnsewer2 05-02-2010 09:17 AM

Oh no!! glad you got it out.

I guess it's better than brushing your teeth with brylcream than toothpaste like a friend did once.

IrishNY 05-02-2010 10:09 AM

Just this week I was getting ready for work and obviously thinking about other things because instead of spraying perfume on my neck and upper chest, I gave myself a nice dose of hair spray. My blouse kept sticking to me all day.

quiltluvr 05-02-2010 02:14 PM

At least you don't have the problem "Fred" had. Seems he mixed up his Rogaine with his Viagra. Now he has a toupee that won't lay flat.

PurpleBecca 05-02-2010 02:32 PM

Melody 05-02-2010 05:08 PM

Reminds me of my brother in law who used his toothpaste for hair gel.... had to hop back in the shower to get it out. LOL

Debbie1219 05-02-2010 05:18 PM

My husband is looking at me funny. I've said "Oh No" OUTLOUD three or four times since this thread started.

I go To The Sea To Breathe 05-02-2010 05:24 PM

Yesterday twice I pressed my fabric on the cutting mat side of my take and press thingie. So my cuting mat is swollen up I laid books on it to try and make the lump go down, and I cut the other side with the rotary cutter.. nothing I can blame it on except my senior brain waves..

I thought about putting a big label on both sides of mine to easily see at a glance, but I worried if anyone else saw it they would think I was losing my mind.

I thought I was the only one that did this. DH very lovingly insisted the he buy me a new cutting mat so I let him. We are not alone in our zany-ness.

yuck. I've never done that thank goodness.

Marge L. 05-03-2010 02:45 AM

My mother told me there'd be days like that. She just didn't tell me how many. LOL

I wanted to be outside and enjoy the day and cut patches and had to leave for a few minutes. The heat from the sun warped a perfectly good mat! Won't do that again. Of course I remember not too long ago when I was playing an LP on my phonograph. It sounded funny. The sun warped the record as it was playing. And it was one of my favorite LP's.

One more, how many of you sit and watch tv and change the channel with the cordless phone and/or try to talk into the remote control? Done that more times than I care to count. Boy, talk about Senior Moments turning into hours. I can so relate to that. Edie

steelecg 05-03-2010 03:49 AM

Oh, no, I feel your pain - Sounds like something I would do - good luck

mar32428 05-03-2010 04:01 AM

Just came in from early AM gardening, hot sweaty and ready for that second cuppa. Two minutes here and I was in hysterics. You folks just make my days. Thank God, there's a few of those I haven't done yet but give me a couple of more years.

jolo 05-03-2010 04:36 AM

I start my day with giggles. Jolo

piffle 05-03-2010 04:38 AM

Good Morning NH. Just where? Used to be there myself. LOVE your Sunbonnet Sue, have pattern for one of those for years now. Perhas you have inspired me.

damaquilts 05-03-2010 04:40 AM

What a way to start the day. With giggles and smiles.
I guess me picking up my starch spray bottle instead of my water spray bottle and using that on my hair isn't so bad after all.

Chigger Holler Quilter 05-03-2010 04:44 AM

I'm sure I got my naturally curly hair from my dad! One morning he was getting ready for work and grabbed a can of spray starch instead of hair spray...had the cutest little ringlets when he got home that night!
Try putting one of those fuzzy ponytailer bands around the starch can!

pollyjvan9 05-03-2010 04:47 AM

Thanks to everyone! I was so frazzled and then I got to laughing. I checked this every hour or so and am still laughing. Finished one quilt except for sewing on the binding and the one I put the spray baste on is almost completely quilted. Had a good day after all.
