Jennifer22206 11-28-2010 05:40 PM

I've only been on this forum since September and I think I have enough inspiration for a hundred or more years of quilting. My husband was talking to me today and said, "So, what are you planning on making in 2011 that you've been inspired to try from your board?"

Here are my MUST try projects:
2 Colored Diamonds like this: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-77415-1.htm
Winding Ways: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-79027-1.htm
Swish Bargello: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-45289-1.htm
Hickory Nut Blocks: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-27345-1.htm I already have the templates!
A yoyo quilt
Magic Pinwheels: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-57130-1.htm
3D Pinwheels
and so many more!

What are yours? Just curious!

Cyn 11-28-2010 05:43 PM

I want to try them all! Deciding where to start is my biggest problem next to getting off this site and sewing!

raptureready 11-28-2010 05:51 PM

I want to do a bargello but also a mosaic from the Bella Bella book, the first quilt you have listed here I had to bookmark for future reference, and I'm not sure what else yet. I'd like to also quilt the 30+ Ladies in Waiting (tops waiting to be sandwiched and quilted) that are sitting upstairs and finish putting together my Attic Windows, Mariner's Compass, and a couple of other UFOs. I've decided in 2011 I'm going to take several quilts that the blocks are done but not set together and make them into table runners for a craft sale next November. Most of them are BOM's that I got tired of before I finished them. I've discovered that taking 6 months to a year to get all my blocks together bores me to tears so I'm not doing that this year. I guess my main goal for 2011 is to finish some of the things I've started so that I can venture into new territory.

quiltinghere 11-28-2010 05:54 PM

My goal for 2011 is to use up my stash and *try* to not purchase on a whim. I know others have been doing it for a while...but I Must start!

My other goal for 2011 is to FINISH the projects I already have started...that should take me 2 years :(

Pam B 11-28-2010 06:01 PM

Well...in 2010, one of my goals was to finish several of my UFOs. I did get 3 quilts finished along with a few other things. I would have to say that I want to make a quilt for our bed...queen sized...it is in shades of pink, cream and brown...all half-square triangles. I have had the fabric for about 4 years now. I hope to get started on it during Christmas vacation from school.

deema 11-28-2010 06:06 PM

I have fabrics picked for three definite quilts -
a b/w/r Bento Box for ME - using Connecting Threads "After Hours" collection and a few throw ins from my stash.
an appliqued "Airborne" quilt for my husband - no definite pattern yet
a space ship/aliens quilt for my son - no definite pattern yet

I've started collecting fabrics for a bed quilt for my daughter...still no clue what I'm going to do with it - I want bright and fun and girly...

I have a friend paying me to make her a quilt in the new year for her daughter's toddler bed - we're still working out the details, but we're leaning towards the "Cake" pattern from the Moda bakeshop, using Moda's "Happy" collection

I'm planning personalized stockings for my whole family

I really want to try a OBW and have some beautiful fabrics to try it with.

That's all...for the moment. It may well take me all year.

klgreene 11-28-2010 06:19 PM

Winding Ways and Magic Pinwheels are two I want to try. I've been trying almost every tutorial on this board. I just want to know how to make all those beautiful blocks. I made most of my larger quilts this year, so next year is using my stash and making wall hanging sizes. I might have to take all my pictures down to hang these. But am also working on a sampler day bed cover. This place is addicting. Beware!!!!

Jennifer22206 11-28-2010 06:26 PM

Oh yes, I forgot about the OBW! How could I have done that??!!

lovingmama 11-28-2010 06:28 PM

In 2011 I want to make a bargello queen sized.

Seeing all those wonderful bargellos got me even more inspired.

I also want to make more time for myself, so I'm able to quilt more.

Hey, not to brag, but, I don't start anything new, until my recent project is done. Most ufo's has been two.

I'm proud of this :P

franie 11-28-2010 06:29 PM

You have made some good choices for next year==all but one. Yo yo--that would drive me insane. Good luck with those projects.

tjradj 11-28-2010 06:34 PM

This year's goal was to get healthy. Quilting and the friends I've made through quilting have helped me do that.
I also bought a 10' quilting frame and a 11" machine to put on it.
That started a whole new project. Learning how to use it.
I've done about a dozen quilts on it now, from practise swatches to crib quilts to queen size. And the technique is getting better.
I've also been making some purses and bags.
My goal for 2011 is to continue to improve my "midarm" technique and start doing more quilts for those of us who 'quilt by chequebook."
I also want to finish making a quilt for each of my nieces and nephews and great nieces, and great nephews, before I start having grandchildren. LOL, my son is 10!!

Talk2late 11-28-2010 07:07 PM

My goal is to do the quilting on the tops I completed in 2010. For me, this is a huge leap and I'm scared to death. Not sure why but I definately have a mental block and hesitate to start.

cjomomma 11-28-2010 07:27 PM

I want to do them all!!!!!!!! Seriously I do!!

hperttula123 11-28-2010 08:38 PM

I want to make a quilt for myself. I have made them for everyone else, and I want one. I am embarrassed to say that I still have a Walmart store comforter on my bed  .
I would also like to do more applique. I haven't done much of it and need to get some good practice in this year.

Boscobd 11-28-2010 08:49 PM

In 2011 I would like to finish at least 3 quilts that I have tops for. I would also like to find that intricate, challenging, once in a lifetime quilt that will take me a long time to make - I think I'm ready for that. Until I find that quilt to work on, I'll continue happily quilting along on whatever strikes my fancy!

earthwalker 11-28-2010 08:56 PM

I would like to get on with restoring my beautiful treadle I bought a little while ago (kitchen reno's got in the way).
Quilts....T-shirt quilt for my stepson (have all the T's already), OBW, random/grab/scrappy for our bed (was inspired by Rosy's wonderful creation), cat quilt (have a cool pattern already) and some extras as I would like to stockpile a few and maybe try and sell them....not sure about this bit, but each quilt I make is an improvement and people seem to like my quilts...anyway, we shall see....oh and keep working on the EPP Grandmother's Garden...maybe 2011 will see it done and dusted.

bjdemir 11-28-2010 08:57 PM

My goal for 2011, = Finish the 2 baby quilts now in progress for twins.
Make another one for baby due in May,
Finish my Batik block of the month,
Make the August shop hop quilt (small)
Finish the Sew Oregon shop hop quilt.
Make 3 memory quilts for DSIL, and 2 nephews. (DBIL passed away on Thanksgiving.
Finish binding todler quilt and
Make 2 or 4 more todler quilts
Take a class and make a Kleidascope quilt (maybe a table runner. instead)
A bed runner for my sister.
Have a few more small projects, but if I get all these done, I will be doing good.

craftyone27 11-28-2010 09:00 PM

Going to start a D9P tomorrow and will be trying out a OBW after the holidays!! Excited about both projects - have been mulling over my color placement for the D9p and have finally got it planned out in my head. Tomorrow is cutting day-yay!! After I finish these two projects who know what will come next - maybe I will brave the Judy Neimeyer paper pieced Hunters Star pattern that I bought 4 years ago. With the help of the tuts on this board I may just be brave enough to try it!

cosyquilter 11-28-2010 09:16 PM

Same here. It is actually written on a paper that I keep adding to. BUT for 2011, I DO have a fabric for OBW quilt, most fabrics for a queen size (my first) bargello for my bed, a pineapple star and a couple of wall hanging that are already in kits that I put together. So here you go five or six quilts that are ready to go, I just need to sit down and start!

I am looking forward to it!

scoobertina 11-29-2010 06:35 AM

in 2011 I plan to finish quilting my very first quilt started 12 years ago. I have been hand quilting it a bit here and there over the years.
I want to finish my Moon Glow quilt http://www.jinnybeyer.com/ax_commerc...0300017F005857, I will hand quilt the turning twenty top that I finished. I will put together the stack and whack project I started a few years ago..
I am also going to the OBW, just ordered the book to pour over while I look for the perfect fabric..
I also have a coworker who's girl is having a baby in the spring so I am going to make a baby quilt and crochet a baby afghan..

I don't have much planned, but I am a mechanic and I have to wear the oils off my hands before I can actually work on my projects. We'll see if I can do more this upcoming year.. I've been inspired

JAGSD 11-29-2010 06:41 AM

In 2011 I hope to finish my Nevada star queen size, do the new Glacier Star, a bargello, and a French Braid. There will be many more come up I'm sure. Oh I also want to get my Mccommas quilted.

Lynnejean 11-29-2010 06:53 AM

2011 is my try the more complicated things year. I am going to do some PP stars and a balimore album.

Abby'smom 11-29-2010 06:58 AM

This board is inspiring -- almost every day I see something that I would like to make -- my list: a daisy quilt, finish my D9P with sunbonnet sues/overall andys borders and who-knows-what next, border and quilt a top that my grandmother made in the late 1930's (star pattern of somesort. reds and blues), a log cabin of blues/brown for my son, a scrappy quilt (from a mag,but I have find which one), a quilted sweatshirt -- the list goes on -- so many great patterns and materials, and so little time....

Raggiemom 11-29-2010 07:12 AM

Well, I've only been on this board for a few weeks but I see several projects in the tutorial section I would like to make. However, first up...

4 quilt tops to be finished
2 king sized quilts for us that need to be made (had material for a couple years!)
learn how to long-arm and hopefully finish the 2 king sized ones that way
learn to paper piece
do better with applique
I have MANY projects all bagged up and ready to start cutting
an Ohio State quilt for church raffle
each of my 3 sisters would like quilts for Christmas
I'd like to make an Irish chain quilt

And I could go on and on!!!!!

QuiltingGrannie 11-29-2010 07:13 AM

A scrappy Granny Square
A scrappy courthouse Steps
A fall wall hanging - (have pattern and fabric for)
A Christmas wall hanging (Have pattern and fabric for)
A quilt for son and dil
A quilt for dd and sil
Another quilt I designed (in my head) yesterday - then to sell
My DH's southwestern quilt that we are still looking for a pattern for although we have some of the fabric for.

Let's see how many I actually get done!!

Good luck everyone!

lillybeck 11-29-2010 07:46 AM

I want to make my husband a new quilt. He has worn his out that I made for him when he was a long distance trucker and I just had to repair it but I do not think it can be repaired much more. I also want to make a queen size for myself and some for my grandchildren. Have not decided on patterns or colors yet because I am still finishing this year.

EagarBeez 11-29-2010 09:57 AM

plans,plans, and more plans.
I have a queen size pinwheel quilt planned for my sister.
I got a Louis Kincade fabric panel (lighthouse). I plan to build around that and make a king sized quilt for her. She loves blue. ...planning board
I have fabric for a quilt for my spare room, not sure what I want to do with it yet. Something not too complicated, I don't have that much exp, but, with each quilt I make, I challenge myself to something a bit harder

ann clare 11-29-2010 10:36 AM

I want to finish:
1. My 5" charm quilt
2. My Yellow Brick Road quilt
3. My 10" Pinwheel Quilt and

annyroony2 11-29-2010 03:06 PM

I want to continue to learn free motion quilting. I started practicing making doggie quilts, moved up to lap quilts and am stuck there. Still practicing but hope to advance soon to bed size quilts.

I have Purple Batiks for a quilt for my daughter but have not decided on a pattern, A scrappy Maple Leaf, baby quilt for my great niece......

Lois-nounoe 11-29-2010 04:07 PM

I just put a Christmas Pineapple quilt on my bed today. Was a long time in the making and finishing. Now I HAVE to make a new quilt before it is time to change THIS one! Maybe Christmas will be over by Easter and I might have a new top at least finished before then. LOL I have the pattern picked out (unless I change my mind) and lots of fabrics in my stash! (though I have to wade into my back room to get some more to chose from) My biggest project for 2011 will be to try to sort out what is in my backroom, if I can squeese into it, and then get ALL my frabics in bins and in one place. Yeah I know. Lots of luck!! I know THAT little task will take all year.
