I held this year's promise to just use my stash, and only had to buy backing once all year. Continue to use up my stash. I have signed up for the "Penny Haren's" group on here, but, until UFO's are caught up then nothing else. Two of the queen size UFO's are wedding gifts, and one is for my daughter. I want to do a couple of baby quilts and lap quilts as well, just to have on hand, instead of always having deadlines. Once I get my longarm HQ Sweet Sixteen in June, then I will start something else. So I guess I have about six months to clean up the UFO's and re-organize my space to get ready for the new machine. |
January - a birthday quilt for #2 daughter, a quilt to be auctioned for Cystic Fibrosis and finish the prayer quilt for church that got put away for Christmas. February - maybe I will have lost enough weight to start my weight loss quilt - a block a pound or inch lost then make my Downy for kids quilt. March ??? I can't think that far ahead. I need to straighten my stash and reclaim two rooms all year long.
|
I want to do a BOM or quilt-along. I'm researching! Maybe the star BOM here.
I'm making a quilt for a new baby niece and in February will hear the gender of another new baby niece/nephew due in July. So, I know of two baby quilts! Other than that, I am not sure. I'm going to be moving into a MUCH smaller space. Just going to see what happens. |
As my loved ones all have quilts and wall hangings, etc the following will be for me and charity:
Using up my scraps in a pinwheel quilt A woodland quilt A sampler quilt A Baltimore Album quilt Linus quilts 4 table toppers (not for holidays...just for the seasons) |
Priorities are:
King size quilt for my brother & sister in law Twin quilt for a graduation gift Paint chip challenge for our quilt guild Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt I'm sure there will be many more, but these are the ones I have to get done. |
Boxers for my SIL BD in Feb.
Bargello, because I'm teaching a class on it in the spring. Ocean Waves (need to get it laser cut) Buggy Barn It's in the Bag quilt Oh, this is a few things I need to do... |

The first two are my priorities first, the rest are in no particular order...

You are really going to be busy arent you?lol
|
I just got the book "Friendship Strips and Scraps" You piece your scrap strips and then cut shapes to make a quilt. Nothing is color cooridnated so you can use any scraps. I am going to begin using scraps this year.
|
I;m going to make a tree skirt for my daughter whose tree is full of cup cakes, candy, and ice cream cone themed ornament. I just got back from wally world where I found a red table cloth that was 75% off that I will make into a tree skirt and embroidery on...the final cost was $2.25 and I bought sets of flannel sheets for $3.75.
Getting back to the list, I'm making crayon box quilts for the homeless.....I am telling myself that all the scraps that are in the Muli household WILL be cut up and used this year...so far I have 42 blocks complete and 56 I'm sewing on and tons of scraps to cut. |
I have two lap quilt kits to make for my youngest son- to curl up with while watching TV. and maybe start making some baby quilts- I have quilts made for my grandkids weddings and don't have any married yet- one getting married in Oct 2011 so maybe had better get started on the baby things. I can wish.

I have 2 quilts to finish for other people.
Make 3 baby quilts. I have 3 different purse patterns, I want to try all 3 and give those as gifts next year. I want to make a small quilt to donate to a charity. Use up some of my scraps. |
Making 3 twin size quilts for my DGN & GNephew 1 will be pink princes's, and the other purple princess and the 3rd John Deere.
I am also going to make 2 twin quilts for my niece in a western pattern who is an endurance rider and she has a ride coming up in March. Along with that I will be making a table topper called "Ants on the march" to go in her picnic basket. That should take into April. |
First off, need to change this Christmas tree avatar. lol
1. Make a quilt out of my collection of Crown Royal bags. 2. A Christmas project each month. 3. Make 2 quilts that I have had kits for several years. One is a snowman quilt, the other blue, yellow, green precut squares. That's a good start, should keep me busy for a while! |
I've 2 blocks to finish piecing for my fireworks quilt entry for August. Finish that up and figure out how I'm going to fmq it.
Then there's blocks to sew together, which I pieced last winter, for one side of my duvet cover. Make the other side and make the cover so we can use it. I bought fabric to make a tree skirt for next Christmas, so make that. It's French Braid, so need to learn how to do that. Then I've bought fabric for at least 4 bags. I've also bought yarn for 2 shawls. Real easy knit pattern, I should be able to make one in a weekend. I really should tackle some of that OBW fabric I've bought. Oh there's more, but that's all that has specific plans right now. |
A quilt as-you-go quilt for our oldest DS and DIL for Christmas next year and LOTS of potholders for various people.
Oh yeah a purse for ME!! |
1. Finish UFO's I have too many to think about, but will try.
2. Finish the wedding quilt I have in works for a co-workers daughter that is getting married in April or May. 3. Make Hanukah placemats and runners for the Cafe Salome event in the fall. They have a craft booth available. My son-in-law thinks I can make a fortune, as you can't buy anything like I make. 4. Finish up birthday gifts for one of my daughters' October birthday. She like to receive placemats, table runners, and other goodies. She doesn't sew. The down side of a mom that does. She doesn't have to. 5. Stop buying fabric, I have way too much in my studio. I must use some of it up. Running out of room. |
So, I am not the only one thinking about Christmas 2011. I want to go thru patterns and projects that I haave donwloaded thru the year and actually do some of them. Try making another quilt.More table runners for gifts. Make some outfits for new GS. Emb. jacket back for another GS b'day. Try to resolve not to bite off more than I can chew. Focus on smaller items/projects. Try crumb method....and on and on. And Oh, yes..organize stash ...again.

I'm challenging myself to complete my "Winter Wonderland" quilt, which I'm doing in blue instead of red. I'm going to quilt it on my embroidery machine with snowflakes. Now that I have a plan, I'm excited to get started on this project that, so far, has been easy to put aside.
Aside from that, I'm taking a break from bed sized quilts in favor of smaller projects. Almost every quilt I've ever made is bed-sized, and I have lots of table runners and wall hangings that I'd like to try. |

One of the nicest treats I received in 2010 was joining this Board and meeting some of the nicest folks ever. Thank you one and all for all the tips, encouragement and for sharing your knowledge. HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
1 & 2 - I have two friends retiring so they will get quilts in their favorite colors.
3 - My sister is turning 65 so that is another one. 4 - I'd like to make a "comforter" quilt for my son's birthday. 5 - I purchased a reproduction colonial fabric in Williamsburg while visiting this fall and finally got complimentary fabrics to make it - for me! 5 - I need to make a couch throw for my nephew who lives in Atlanta and didn't get one for Christmas before my sister flies back to visit him! I'm sure other occasions will come along as well as birthday and Christmas gifts for family and friends. Good Luck with your projects in 2011! |
My list is too long, but the big one would be to finally learn all the ins and outs of my embroidery machine.
