Hi Kelly G,
I have that red w/stars also :)

I'm in! You guys are FAST though! Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to do the blocks. I think I'll do the same colors so I end up with a wallhanging .... or something.

How often do you challenge?

They ARE fast! We will be watching for yours, QN! This one goes to the 20th of this month, and then - something a little different!

VERY nice!! With those coordinated colors and creating the positions, I wonder just how many different looking blocks we could make with just ONE pattern! 'anyone have a calculator???
 We ALL - or alot of US seem to be just doing the one pattern and duplicating the saaaaaaaaaaame thing, over and over - well that BORES me! What about you?? What a pretty 3 block by 4 block quilt that would make, with the same pattern, same fabrics, but rearranged!

Is the challenge to re-arrange the pieces within the block to create a new block? Perhaps I misunderstood you.

The challenge is to 1. try a basic block using minimul (sp) colors. 2. Rearrange the colors for a different look. 3. Maybe flip the HST's to get still another look. I apologize for not makeing this clear. It is an example of pushing ourselves. Check out the previous blocks that so many have sent in - see? They basically are all the same block, but they look somewhat different.

This is a wonderful idea. I honestly hope you continue. I am so far behind on my stuff I can't join in right now, but I am going to start encouraging new members and especially newer quilters to experiment with this challenge. What a wonderful way to expand your thinking when you are in a rut or when all the fabrics of the current season only suggest one or two possibilities to you.

The old saying is "practice makes perfect" and doing challenges I believe will make everyone a little more comfortable about the craft. It makes us all "put on our thinking caps" and see with another set of eyes. Yes, as long as there are participators, I WILL keep this up. Hopefully with each block comes another hurdle that we may or may not try if there were no challenges. For those of whom cannot start immediately, I would suggest do go to the original block, and continue in order until you catch up - otherwise it COULD be overwhelming. Just have fun with it!

and....here is my effort for the 2nd block challenge. I used up the tiny triangles left over from the 1st block...which is why they weren't so perfect and not all exactly the same size. (Yes I know that if I cut and measured in the first place they would be....but hey..this is a fun craft and I'm not going to stress about exact points - unless I want to enter some competition!!)
I'll probably use this piece on the front of the cushion I'm looking to make - once again - If I can find where the heck I put the stitched piece I finished last sunday... If not, I'll use block 1&2 somewhere together for another project...
(Yes, cutting the tails off the border before taking the photo would have been better....whoops!)
