OK - Here it is! There are a couple that have itchy britches! haha - Have fun with it - remember, any combination of fabrics that YOU like between 2 and 20 BUT______This time, make 3 blocks, same pattern as above, just flip-flop and rearrange the colors. We will all be anxious to see what you have come up with! |
Thats a cute block !! :)
|
WOW you are FAST C Cal Quilt Girl - Do you think that block has possibilities?? 'hope so!
|
Thanks for the site for free patterns! I am going to try this challenge. It should be fun to see how the choice of colors affects the outcome.
|
Wow - wouldn't that be beautiful using batiks?
|
Good! Yes, Batiks look good in ANYthing!
|
Wow, time to go pick out fabrics and get busy. I guess I should first get the hubby out the door to go to work so I can quilt in piece! And I need his computer to print out the pattern LOL :)
|
I'm in....can't wait to get started....

Ta Tah!!!! Here is my FIRST block. Notice I used 2 colors only, but put it on a diagonal which changes it up a bit.

This is the 2nd one which a changed from pink to a coordinating floral. Also the blocks are a little flip flopped. ALL the blocks in the examples are half square triangles, but when lights are changed to darks and maybe rearranged, it looks like an entire different block.
|
ahhh very good !

The 3rd - a darker color was added and flipped a few more colors. You know, alot of times, you can identify a certain block, and when the designer changes JUST the lights/darks, they give it an entire different name!
Yeah, like I would call this "ticks over Missouri!" |

Here is my challenge. All I did was to change the color placement, didn't mess with where the hst's went. Hope you like them.

My Gosh...they all look pretty. Its amazing what you can do with one pattern by changing the color and rotating the blocks.
Here is another one for me. I like the colors in this one. |
Thank you. I printed the instructions for the blocks and will be trying these out tomorrow, then I will post the pictures. Is this going to be every couple of weeks or monthly?
|
Kate - your block looks so fresh! Nice job! and Mishnjim - this challenge will run to th 20th! I already have a smidge more difficult block picked out for the next one - it is something different - but just looks hard!

This is what I did. I love seeing how the pattern changes. I am learning so much about "creating" rather than just following a pattern. I can see so many possibilities opening up for me. Thanks for challenging us.

I just joined in this morning and have completed June and 1 July block. I am going to use peach, brown and off-white and light green in all my blocks. I have been wanting to make a baby quilt with these colors so this will be a crib size sampler. I am really excited about this challenge. First time I have joined in on anything.

I tried to vary the balance of light and dark. It was interesting that, in maintaining the integrity of the pattern, it can be done a lot of ways.
In the last photo, one yellow appears to be orange. It really is not - just a shade darker than the other yellow. Interesting how the photo emphasizes the 'square in a square' appearance. 4 lights - the yellows are two different fabrics, one darker than the other two mediums used light, medium and dark light, two mediums and a dark |

Here's my three, I like the third one the best. I think it is awesome how you can just put the colors in different places and get a whole new look...love it....ready for #3. I am going to make a red, white and black quilt that is on my bucket list with all my blocks....
Looks like a bullseye arrows to the square Needs a name |

 We ALL - or alot of US seem to be just doing the one pattern and duplicating the saaaaaaaaaaame thing, over and over - well that BORES me! What about you?? What a pretty 3 block by 4 block quilt that would make, with the same pattern, same fabrics, but rearranged! |
