3rd Place Ribbon!!!

I learned to quilt a little over 10 years ago when my daughter was expecting her first child. I joined a local guild 4 years ago and joined a bee with about 10 ladies. I have learned a lot from my quilting friends. I got a HandiQuilter 16 a couple of years ago and have taken FMQ classes at International Festival. In my heart, a quilt is not truly mine unless I piece and quilt it.

I LOVE 30's fabric so I decided to enter my Anita's Arrowhead quilt. I entered under the category, 1st time to enter a quilt in a quilt show, any technique, 1 or 2 person completing. There were 18 ladies who entered. I placed 3rd! The 1st and 2nd place winners were 2 person quilts, pieced by the entrant and quilted by a longarm person. I quilted my quilt on my HandiQuilter using several designs. Can't wait till 2017 when I can enter another one, my grandmothers flower garden and my dresden plate!

Most likely your file size is too big. Here is a link on how to resize pictures for the QB. I have reset my digital camera so it doesn't make such huge files. You don't need that kind of resolution unless you are printing the pictures.

If all else fails, call a GS and pull him away from his "game" long enough to walk you through the picture posting thing. I have posted a few pictures on the QB, and my camera has the right setting for sizing, just keep on working at it. My kids go straight from their up-to-date phones to post a picture for me; but ours is a flip-phone, so we don't even bother with it. I have been asked to post pictures by the ladies (and gents) here, but I'm not good enough at it just to go straight to posting and a picture.

sewingsuz 03-10-2015 09:48 AM

Congrats on your ribbon, especially since you did all of it by yourself! I feel the same way that you do: I make my from beginning to binding as well.

I totally share your sentiment on stitching the whole thing myself. I am so proud of you!!!! I am a fairly new quilter and just purchased a Sweet Sixteen, also. My goal is to become proficient enough to quilt my close friends quilts within a year feeling confident not to mess them up. Practice for me and discount for them. Sorry you're not able to get the picture uploaded, but it has to be gorgeous to have won. There should be a category for FMQing and piecing together!! (maybe there is in some shows?)

Wonderful! Congratulations on your ribbon! That's so fantastically wonderful! I know you have to be so proud. It does us all good to win! Hope you will figure out the photo posting! We would all like to see your quilt!

The very first quilt I ever made was a crib-size Sunbonnet Sue Applique, and I pieced, appliqued and hand quilted it from beginning to binding. I was naturally proud of it, but it was a gift for my niece and her baby girl; She still has it in great condition!

I am so happy for you!

Jeanette
