Tartan...just finished a sample block that finishes at 8 1/2 inches. Center block will be scrappy charms. Oh this is gonna be so nice and I should be able to get lots of fabric sewn up. TY so much for the link... here it is if someone wants it.

I just made a scrappy using same fabrics and no two blocks alike are next to each other. I really am pleased with the look of it.

you might want to go to the swaps section and look at the Birthday swap. It involves 2.5" squares and participants post pictures of quilts made with them
