Yes, the machine was sold to me as a "new" machine. All warranties for new machine in place and all accessories were verified present just as if it was new from the box. Because the price I was willing to pay was below their best price they would offer, the floor model was what they offered me. I really didn't want to buy the floor model because I wanted NEW this time but they didn't appear to be willing to do any more negotiating. My final price was still quite high when considering I was doing a trade in of an excellent condition higher end machine from the same manufacturer.

Essentially, how they presented it was zero discount off the MSRP but a large credit for my trade in. I don't feel I got a great deal, but if I feel I got a great machine I am willing to feel okay about it. I haven't had enough time to put it to a lot of testing yet.

Are you willing to divulge the brand. I never even knew machines would count your stitches, except an embroidery machine.

It is a Babylock. I think the Babylock machines for the past few generations have counted the number of stitches. I think several other brands --Brother, Janome-- have stitch counters on their past few high end machines as well.
