I started about 18 years ago, and I'm 56 now.. I'm having issues of having to work, and not having enough time to quilt.. I originally started with stain glass in a studio apartment, and didn't have enough room, and took up quilting.. Imagine working in a studio apt. quilting.. Ugghh I am now in a one bedroom, and use three machine regularly.. My stash is in plastic sweater boxes.. and I'm going to start two scrap quilts, as I have way too many scraps..

I am 63 and started my first quilt 6 months ago... I am now on quilt #3... machine piecing with hand quilting (queen size)... I am obsessed and love it. But, I have a lot to learn...

Our quilt group has had several women who retire and then take up quilting. Luckily we have a LQS that has really good classes and lots take the beginner class there and then come to the quilt club. One has made over 20 projects already, all hand quilted. She just amazes me how quickly she can hand quilt a project.

I am 66 and made my first "quilt" about 8 months ago. I had a machine and made myself clothes, then made clothes for my daughters, but sold the machine in 1990, did not buy anothern until last year.

Started 37 years ago on a quilt for my son. It ended up in a box and it is still there. 4 years ago I decided to give it another try and now I quilt every chance I get. Made me 58 when I started again. I hope to keep on quilting for a long time. Am looking forward to retiring in 4 years and having lots more time.

I am 65 years old and have been quilting about a year and a half. Joined a quilting guild where we make quilts for charity for local hospitals. I joined the guild and felt so intimidated because I had never quilted, but the ladies have been great to help.
I have sewn since my early twenties, making baby clothes and children clothes, heirloom sewing, smocking, can't imagine why I never started quilting.

I also started playing golf last year so I could play with my husband, let me tell you, I am better at sewing than playing golf :lol: , but I guess I said all of that to say, you are never to old to learn. Wish I had started quilting years ago.

I have done some sewing since my daughter was born she is now ????, but I did not start quilting until my mid 50s. Even then I wasn't very serious until I retired at 62. Now quilting is really all I do. Not very fast or good but I do enjoy all parts of it.

I have sewed since I was 20 but not quilts. My grandmother made guilts with treadle machine and hand quilted by lantern ( lived on a farm and electricity was not available.) As I got older I wanted to learn how to quilt and as soon as I retired in 1990 I started taking lessons--beginners and then classes to learn a specific technique. I love quilting and I wish I had been able to start when I was younger. I am 82 now.

I started a year and a half ago, I'm 64.

I started at 43.....and I am still 43!
