I have seen pellon used for foundation piecing. Use an ultra fine sharpie and draw your design on it, stitch on the lines, you don't need to tear away. It works well however you have to watch your pressing carefully, heat will distort or shrink the pellon. You may want to use finger pressing or a wooden roller.

I use reg printer paper and 1.0 on my stitch length, and also fold the paper b4 ripping off. Works good.

I HAVE DONE SEVERAL PAPER-PIECED PROJECTS AND I USE TISSUE PAPER ( IT'S CHEAP AND EASY TO GET) IT'S AMAZING HOW STRONG IT IS.

I did these with regular copy paper, my stitch length to about 25 (on a featherweight), and no backstitching since the ends are "locked" when you do other lines. The two black ones are bookmarks; the raccoon is 8" tall.

I may work up to it but more likely just jump in. A few other things I am committed to finish first though.

I am glad I found this thread. I am re-reading all the tips, because tomorrow I begin another attempt at paper piecing. A NY Beauty as well!!
