An afternoon with Jenny Doan
 

My hometown, Portland Oregon is hosting quilt market this weekend. This is for shop owners, merchants, sellers etc. Jenny Doan and her husband were in town for market. Our local sewing machine center and fabric store (Fabric Depot) sponsored a "workshop" with her this afternoon. It was such great fun. She is a gem! She was informative, filled with ideas and short cuts and very enthusiastic. Her husband is "shy" but the two of them are a great show. Her youtube tutes are super but in person, she's a rock star! (I got her autograph!) She was talking about the projects (17) in her summer magazine. There's going to be a new fall one coming out in July.
I just want to make you jealous if you weren't in the group :p and encourage you to go see her if ou ever get the chance. She's a super quilter and a great story teller too.
No, I am not related to her (I wish I was!) or part of her promotion crew. I just had a great afternoon!:D

Girl,,,,I am sooo jealous!! I was able to get a autographed copy of her first magazine. I framed it and hung it in my sewing room. Jenny is a rockstar!!!!!

Oh, I wish I would have known she was coming to Portland. I would have driven down!! Phooey!!

That would be a great afternoon, enjoy her tutorials. She comes up with the darned..est quilt ideas!! You are lucky!

Jealous? Well I'm way past that. I'm the greenest color green there is. But, I'm happy for you. It would be such an honor is get to meet her. She is so down to earth & so talented. How great for you! She is one of the "Quilt World" personalities I would love to meet. I really enjoyed her Q&A video on U tube hope they do it again. Love her tutorials.

I get to see her too! She is coming to Quilts n' Bloom in Haubstadt, Indiana, in two weeks. My friend and I were some of the first to sign up. Really looking forward to it. Even cutting vacation short so I would not miss it. Now that is setting your priorities straight, isn't it! :)

I had to be in Missouri in early January. I was going to go right by her shop and had a morning free. I really enjoyed meeting Jenny, and you're right, she is great in person. I spent a hour or so just talking with her.

Geez would have been nice to go see her and spend the weekend in portland with my daughter but i work as a care giver on weekends...i just think jenny is so neat.....i love her tutorials......

One of the people on my list of "love to have lunch with". Actually, she is probably at the top. She looks so personable and warm. Love her videos.

Well, I'm green with envy! Her tutorials on YouTube are the only ones I watch; the others seem so boring in comparison.

She's my "go- to" person for tutes and fabric specials. I love that gal.

I met her last summer when she had a shop hop starting in MO and going to Iowa. She did not do the bus tour with us but she waved us off with a clown's red wig. Yes, she is a darling lady, very gracious. Definitely a rising star !

We must belong to the same guild! I am so excited to see her in August! (Well, I suppose she could be going to more than one:))

I signed up and registered on her website. Easy to do. And if you Facebook the quilt company just send a message and friend it. You will be able to go to the website and check the calendar for the year. I want to be able to know where she's going to be if I'm in the area at that time. That is not stalking, it's being a "QUILT SHOW ROADIE" QSR!

Jennie is my hero. She has taught me so much. I would love to meet her. Maybe one day. Glad you had a good time! Cant wait for the next book.

I have met Jenny and her family. I live about an hour and 10 minutes from Missouri Star Quilt Co., my favorite quilt shop. Jenny is a doll and she has the greatest family. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Jenny is going to be the guest speaker at our quilt guild Thursday. I'm really looking forward to it.

Her magazine is Quilting Quickly. You can buy it at JoAnn's, Barnes and Noble and Price Chopper. I'm sure there are other places, but these are the places I have seen it. You can also order it online at Missouri Star Quilt Co.
