Oh very well done they are. Cute and bright. Age I can't say but go with decades ago at least.

Some of the prints on the butter fly's look like flour sacks. The colors and the tops look like they are in great shape. They could be older than they look (colors are still bright, because of being in a trunk out of the light). Thank you for sharing.

AMEN!! Such beautiful handwork in the applique. Wish there had been consistency in the finishing with hand quilting, as well.

Thanks for the input everyone....I agree that hand quilting would have been a great thing to do. My friend has never done anything by "hand" before. She hasn't had the butterflies quilted yet...maybe she will take the time to have that done.

My thought exactly. The yellow might be yardage, but the rest are all familiar to me as " feed or flour sack prints".
